Fokker D.V, Special Hobby 1/48

Recommended Posts

Fokker D.V

Today I finished a Fokker D.V in 1/48 made from a Special Hobby Limited Edition kit. I replaced a lot of kit parts which can be seen in detail in a build report.

The struts and gear are metal, partly with wooden add on. The Oberursel rotary is a Small Stuff resin one, the turnbuckles are made by Gaspatch, seat belts are HGW and the Spandau gun is from Master. The Garuda air screw is sanded from a glued veneer block. The model was painted with Alclad primer and metal paints, Gunze and Drooling Bulldog paints and streaking and weathering was done with oil paints.

I am grateful to my model builder friend Rick, because his incredibly good paint job on his Fokker D.VII gave the impetus to build and paint this model.

This is my eighth model of 2020 and I'm very satisfied with the result. :) This is one of my best.

Thank you very much for your kind comments. Highly appreciated! :bye:

Regarding the base I must admit, that I bought it as base for pictures, since my models are shown in a glass cabinet with light from below and above. I selected the autumn version because the colors looked real.

Frank

Fantastic model of a type rarely seen.

Just checked, despite the inscription "Limited Edition" on the box, the kit is still available.

It will look better with "Garuda" labels on it, but the ones I have in stash are to big. Will try to get smaller ones.

Hope for a more normal next year for all of you :bye:

Frank
