Has anyone tried DNModels' 1/72 F-35B paint masks on the Fujimi kit?

Hello all,

Like it says on the tin - has anyone tried DNModel's 1/72 F-35B RAM panel paint masks (designed for the Hasegawa kit) on the Fujimi kit? Alternatively, used aftermarket RAM panel decals for the F-35A on the Fujimi kit (most likely a combination of cannibalizing the decals for the common panels and masking/painting the rest). Feedback/suggestions much appreciated. Ta!

I would suggest using 1/72 Academy F-35B kit instead, because it has RAM panel decals included with the kit. The Academy kit is also more detailed, easier to assemble and closer to serial production planes. The other good choice would be Hasegawa F-35B, which also comes with RAM panel decals. The biggest difference between Academy and Hasegawa F-35B (and F-35A) kits is that Academy kits have detailed weapons bays and Hasegawa kits do not.

Eduard RAM panel painting mask for it (I would use decals instead): https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10692705

Hasegawa kit (Beast Mode variant with wing pylons and weapons): https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10605618

You will also need a way to simulate semi-metallic sheen of RAM paints. The easiest way is to use this varnish as the final (outer layer after applying decals) varnish: https://hpns.eu/shop/mrp-278-have-glass-special-matt-varnish

The darker of the F-35 grays is this one: https://hpns.eu/shop/mrp-280-camouflage-grey-fs-36170

It's not that simple - I already have the Fujimi kit on hand! So while what you sent me was really helpful for my next project (because I will be getting the Academy B kit), I do want to use this kit as well. That's why I was asking specifically if anyone tried the DNModels mask on the Fujimi.

Supertom, I feel your pain, I also have the Fujimi 35B and I have been trying to figure out a way to represent the RAM panels.

The DN masks are for a specific kit (Hasegawa in this case) and may not match the panels on the Fujimi kit.

I can suggest to utilize Fujimi's own decals with the clear film trimmed carefully out and then apply a lightly resprayed layer of camo color.

Do the other boxings have the RAM panel tape? Mine does not (it's the original boxing).
