Su-35UB No:801 (T-10UBM-1) Conversion based on MHM 1:48

Recommended Posts

I had forgotten to add little MLG fairing resin parts. Now they have been placed and the fairing contours were reshaped using putty:

Also right fin dielectric panel size was corrected:

And finally MLG uplock fairings were cloned from Kittyhawk Su-35S kit:

Next step is to coat all parts with primer.

Before starting the cockpit area there is one more part to be duplicated, the canard...

Years ago we did it with the tapes and later - with the CDs... Now you’re having no need to buy the kits - just clone most useful parts et voilà! 😹

You’re saying about the cloning process just like about the two mouse clicks. I’m definitely need to try it.

Excellent progress on the kits, Serkan! Keep up the good work. 👍

Thanks Nikolay,

I did similar modifications 30 years ago when I had only few kits and very limited budget. Besides there was neither online ordering nor silicone/resin casting technology at that time.

Now I take the benefit of having all of them. The only problem is that I am now a bit old...

If you have a proper molding silicone and enough lego bricks, having a little patience it is not so difficult.

Actually, it’s a normal thing. 😼 But your brain stays young while you’re constantly learning something new.

I wasn’t a LEGO boy, I used stuff like this:

And there’s no problems with the patience. Sometimes... 😹

Presque toutes les pièces ont été recouvertes d'un apprêt noir tandis que les carénages montés MLG coulés durcissaient encore:

La prochaine étape consiste à démarrer le revêtement métallique du moteur.

Me neither, I bought my first lego bricks when I was over 40 years old 🙂

Looks like I have some time to do it! 😹

But with these metal parts you can build very stable jigs and tools... 😄

Almost everything! 👍

The canopy had a lot of scratches and needed to be polished. I decided to give a chance 25 years old Nigrin car polish set (repair and polishing compounds). I was a bit suspicious about the polishing liquids (especially about its shelf life) but I was really surprised and impressed by the result:

The masks were placed from inside and outside:

Now I can start to paint the model...

As I am trying to consume my Model Master enamel paint stock I decided to paint this aircaft using MM colors. Here are the shades of blues I have:

The most suitable colors for this camo will be 1594, 1562 and 2131...

Hi Neffan,

I have an ongoing 1:72 build but it is waiting for cloning front fuselage half which I will use in chinese J-15S build as well:

To me the most difficult part of any Flanker build is the engine area. Each Flanker has a unique color of metallic blue, red, and smoke for heat staining engines. Therefore all my Flanker builds were pending aside till last weekend. Finally I decided to do mass production painting campaign and finished engine paint jobs of six Flankers and one T-50 Pak-Fa (Su-57 prototype).

I  have painted the entire engine area with stainless steel and masked the access doors and hatches:

And then I have applied different shades of metals and blue/red stains:

The result looks good enough to mask the engine area and apply the first camouflage color...

Hi Serkan, great job ! What kind of paint (brand) do you use for the engine ?

Thanx in advance.

Neffan

Thanks Neffan,

I have first applied Model Master Stainless Steel and then different shades of Alclad II Metal colors and Blue/Red stains.
