Just a quickie for the collective, what colour would the aerials have been, black, grey, camo colour??

Anyone have an idea?

Cheers, have a good day and happy modelling!

Probably the same base colour as the vehicle mate, dark yellow or German grey ? The antenna base has a flexible rubber collar also, this probably wouldn’t of been painted at the factory.

Not really pertinant to this thread but I needed to get it off my chest: when we can be such sticklers for accuracy, why has the literal translaton of Königstiger entered English and stuck? The Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf B is properly the Bengal Tiger, not the King Tiger, but it will be the latter for evermore now. Odd, given that for example the Nashorn when translated is always Rhinoceros and never the literal Nose Horn.

Thank you, I feel better now. Carry on, as you were :D

Update on progress.

y4mG_vVQ9UokOTPebpYrm8RpLSq84jtmPgGecSci

And the wheels

y4mPybiNzvdH13Z7vdcU7tGeiRITuzDDVXcdaOQf

still lots to do here adding tyres etc. (makes building wingy things seem like a good idea......)

And some tracks.

WRT the tracks, as they're painted on the sprue, should I go through them all to remove paint from the joint points? Or will they go together as is?

I've not done link and length before and can't see how I could do a decent paint job if they were already stuck to the wheels

Pretty sure I’ll get at least one figure, commander, assembled prior to primer.

I’m headed to Columbus today, and will try and find a suitable base fit the Diorama.

Not much spare time today but progress has been made. The Tiger has it's primer and already i like what I'm seeing, amazing what a difference a coat of paint makes 🙂. Photo etch grilles are inbound and will be added at a later date. Wheels next hopefully tomorrow and the tracks will follow along, so all in all I'm happy with the results so far 🙂👍

That's it for today just the beginning of the paint process but I'm already looking forward to the next part which will start with some brown paint in strategic places 😉👍

Andy, what primer are you using ?

That looks like a nice finish.

I use mr surfacer 1500 for all my priming work. Black, grey and white all work great mixed 50/50 with Mr colour levelling thinner. The only downside is the smell but i have the correct gear from my car days and I don't work in the house so no problem for me 🙂👍

Well I said I wouldn't be buying anymore kits this year but........I saw this one and simply had to have it.....this has to be the best looking kit I've seen to date 🤔.

Darryl and Dan.... a good example of the aerial flexing at the base is shown here, in this shot of a Liebstandarte Tiger at Kharkov.

The aerial looks to be whitewashed, along with the rest of the vehicle.

Cheers, bud, don't think I'll try bending the aerial I've just superglued into position though...

Bet that strike on the mantlet gave someone a headache!

Dead gunner and assistant driver.
The bodies are ponchoed, on the back.

Must have to play around and see what works for you. First time I painted all and then tried to assemble and found the paint to be fouling the joints. Perhaps assemble so as you have two or three sections then paint the bulk of them, fit and paint the rest..

Might be easier than painting once fitted and trying to avoid the wheels.

Very good shot who ever hit the mantlet, smack right on the primary sight, not good for the gunner or anyone behind him possibly the loader?

Might be stunning, but worth another black eye or Christmas in the spare room?

Won't mention you've already built the kit once so should present no problems!

Nothing that extravagant I'm afraid but I can't build a plain looking Tiger mate...I have to create some kind of weathering effects even if the tank is basically one colour 🤔
