DaveJL
Hello all, Here are my finished builds for 2020 (there may be one more to follow!) All are 1/48 except for the Lancasters. I think we can all agree that it's been a fairly difficult and bizarre year and I for one have found modelling and the forums helped take my mind off things for a while. Being a 'key worker' I've worked pretty much right through the pandemic which made me enjoy my days off much more! Was a year of firsts for me too, my first Mig-23, British Phantom, Hunter, Lancaster, Me-109, Hurricane; first time I attempted mottling and my first wholesale use of oil weathering. Anyway, enough waffle, the first of the year was Trumpeters Mig-23ML, marked as an MLD 'White 211' of the Bulgarian Air Force: More photos and a link to the build thread here Next was the Revell (Hasegawa) Phantom FGR.2, marked as XV498 of 92 Squadron: More photos and a link to the build thread here Quickly followed by the Airfix Hunter F.MK.6, marked as XF526 of 56 Squadron: More photos and a link to the build thread here Tamiya's wonderful F-14D was next, marked as BuNo 164603 of VF-31 'Tomcatters': More photos and a link to the build thread here The first of three 617 Squadron 1/72 Lancasters was next. This one a Hasegawa example, marked as ED763 during Operation 'Cateshism' in 1944 (mission to sink the Tirpitz): More photos and a link to the build thread here An Airfix Lanc quickly followed, marked as ED932, the mount of Wing Commander Guy Gibson,VC, DSO & Bar, DFC & Bar for Operation 'Chastise' on the night of 16/17th May 1943. More photos and a link to the build thread here Kinetic's Su-33 Flanker D was next: More photos and a link to the build thread here My first ever Hurricane followed, this is the Airfix MK.1 kit, marked as N2359 of 17 Squadron in June 1940: More photos and a link to the build thread here The first of three Eduard Spitfires was next, this one being an IX.c of 312 Squadron in 1944: More photos and a link to the build thread here Tamiya Spitfire MK.Vb, 249 Squadron, Malta 1943: More photos and a link to the build thread here Are you bored yet? Stay with me, not many to go... The last of my 617 Lancs followed, this time the Grand Slam toting PB996 in 1945: More photos and a link to the build thread here A pair of Eduard's lovely new Spit Mk.1s - N3162 'EB-G' of 41 Sqn and K9953 'ZP-A' of 74 Sqn: More photos and a link to the build thread here Couldn't do a Battle of Britain set of Spits without the villainous 109 - Eduard Bf-109E4: More photos and a link to the build thread here Finally, and possibly my favourite build of the year, though it's a tight run thing was the Hobbyboss A-6A Intruder, in the markings of VA-75 'Sunday Punchers' in 1965: More photos and a link to the build thread here All I seemed to do was work and build models throughout the year and it has just flown by. As I sit and savour a nice stout, I hope and wish that 2021 will be better for us all. Keep modelling and stay safe. Dave
