SharkOwl
A very good news indeed. And on an historical note, what is the link between the F-5E, Yemen and Taiwan ? Yemen F-5E Tiger II have been flown by Taiwanese mercenaries ! 🙂 SharkOwl Edited December 10, 2020 by SharkOwl

SharkOwl
For your information. Here is the comment I have left about this quite interesting reissued kit on the AFV Club facebook page : Thanks for this re issue AFV Club ! It could also be quite interesting for you to reissue your 1/48 F-5E Tiger II kit with the ADF antenna extended fin, with colors and markings for Morocco, Tunisia and Kenya. This ‘’rebox’’ could be titled ‘’African F-5E Tiger II’’ SharkOwl Edited December 27, 2020 by SharkOwl 3

The standard BFC discount will be applied to the purchase of other items. Other March items will not be available for purchase during that period, but sales of February kits and accessories will start in the last week of January. Shipments containing 11182 FREEDOM TIGER 1/48 will be dispatched on a priority basis from February 15, 2024. More details about pre-order tommorow! The FREEDOM TIGER 1/48 scale kit in Limited edition will be the main new release for March 2024. Behind this kit name is the F-5E Tiger II, which is built on plastic parts purchased from the well-known Taiwanese company AFV Club. The decal sheet will offer eight color schemes. First of all, these will be the colorfully camouflaged machines of the Aggressor units of the US NAVY, US MARINES AND US AIR FORCE, which simulate enemy air forces during exercises. Units represented are VFC-13, VFA-127, 65th FWS of the 57th FWW, 527th Tactical Training Fighter Aggressor Squadron. The selection also includes an aircraft from Top Gun. Also represented are aircraft from the Mexican, Thai, and South and North Vietnamese air forces. We have a very personal relationship with the latter aircraft, which served in both Vietnamese air forces. The F-5E Tiger II serial number 73-0087 has been in the Kbely Aviation Museum in Prague since the 1980s. Almost twenty years ago, it was the first aircraft we ever scanned, and although we didn't end up using the data to design the kit, we gained valuable experience. Then last year we had the privilege of participating in the reconstruction of this aircraft. In the March issue of INFO Eduard magazine we will bring you a report about the reconstruction of the Kbely F-5E, in which we will also introduce you to our modest contribution to this renovation. The kit also contains the usual set of masks, photo etched parts and Brassins, which this time represent the wheels and RWR antennae. We will very likely continue with AFV Club's F-5 kits in the future with at least one additional item that rebuilds later production run F-5Es and upgraded machines. V.P. Shalako
@Homebee: I looked again at the photo with the marking options. Are the F-5s S/Ns the following? • NFWS F-5E #45 => 160794? • VFA-127 F-5E #20 => 741530 (probably previously known as 160796)? • VFC-13 F-5E #01 730865? Thanks for the tip mate, but come on, 51.80 for a kit like this one? I mean Academy used to sell their reboxings of the KF-5E and KF-5F a few years ago for only 35 euros to 40 max. Perhaps a significant discount if you preorder more than five kits?

The basic kit, plus PE, resin wheels and RWR antennas, masks and decals for 9 airframes, then that price increase sounds about right to me. Buy those separately and add them to the Academy kit and see what your total is.

Steve McArthur
I'll throw out a warning for anyone looking to get Overtrees and isn't familiar with this kit. The AFV Club F-5E uses two PE pieces for the boundary layer vents on the intake. The intakes have a recessed slot for these pieces to fit into. Since Overtrees do not include PE you are missing required parts for a complete kit. I suppose you could just putty the recesses and sand it smooth. They are parts 52 & 53 in the Eduard PE fret shown above. In the AFV Club made kits they include a small PE fret that has these parts along with a couple canopy detail pieces. The canopy details you could skip without it being obvious, but the intake pieces are a bit noticeable.
