1/48 Eduard Hawker Tempest Weekend Edition, Roland Beamont.

Recommended Posts

Hi there, cobbled this one together completely OOB. Finished with Humbro & Halfords Aerosols.  The kit decals were good apart from the roundels which looked a bit odd in colour so I used Airfix ones from my spares box.

I used Mig Ammo oil brusher silver to do the engine panels and black eyeshadow for exhaust staining, a very restrained wash and then Halfords Satin laquer.

All in all a great fun kit to build, and I have another couple in the stash!

Fantastic Tempest, looks great.

I'm just trying to put the decals on mine and I'm not having much luck, going to have to get a aftermarket sheet.

Which decal solutions did you use?

Thanks,  MicroSol, but the roundels are Airfix and the codes are Xtradecal.

That looks great! Which Halfords colours did you use if you down mind me asking?

Thanks, the rivet detail really impressed me.

Sorry.  Humbrol, not Halfords.

Humbrol 163 Dark Green

Humbrol 27 Sea Grey

Humbrol 165 Medium Sea Grey

Halfords Satin laquer.

That explains it, I have to say these new Eduard decals are the worst decal that I have ever used. They are now in the bin and I have gone full Karen and complained to Eduard about them! 🤬

This is an impressive Tempest. I like the decent weathering effects. You really invested a lot of care and great attention to detail which really paid off. 👍 Interestingly, it is not the first time that I have read in a recent thread here that there are issues with Eduard decals.  If it is just the odd color than it is obvious that you have them replaced.

But what can see from Gazza I´s reply is that issues with Eduard decals are even more serious. As far as I remember I also saw in other posts that modellers complained about silvering and very pale colors and also some link to a tutorial of how to handle it in this thread:

Nice and clean. Beautiful model.

Haldfors grey primer, how much do I miss it... All these years and haven't been able to find any decent substitute here in USA.

Now you need to at least make it a sister...

By the way, the Sterling below, is it 1/72nd scale?.

Please keep it coming.

Yup.  Italeri Stirling, the RFI is on here.

Thanks very much.
