Antoine
Hi there To make a long story short, there's a chance that I produce something in 2020! And please don't ask about 2014 to 2019! It started three weeks ago. Here's the doctor's prescription. A little more than three sprues This one doesn't count! I'll use the stencils only The usual piece of art by Tamiya Colours options... needless to say they didn't suit me!! :
Antoine
The build itself took me three or four days, that's not the main point. No add on, no nothing, just a few splotches of paint here and there. Ok, I'll add a PE harness at the end of the build. Nothing much can be seen inside in an FW, anyway.
Antoine
First glitch, the decal spiral.... Took me half an hour to set it down properly... Well, properly is maybe not the best word to describe the struggle... Looks quite fine on the airframe.
Antoine
Onward to the camo! But there are littles things to do before. Masking. Then checking the joints....
Antoine
Then spraying the cockpit inside colour (RLM66 I think?) on the windscreen... And then, primer! Polyurethan primer with 0.5 spraygun, that is!
Antoine
And this is when things started to go wrong, mister policeman... It was intended as a quick build, when I decided to go for masks. I mean, masks for everyting, appart the stencils and a few numbers... This is getting serious from now on! Yellow Eastern front ID band, together with a V under the left wing. Then masking. Then white... The crosses... A drop of white... and also of red! Then green... Doesn't look too bad so far.
Antoine
Oops! Sorry, wrong picture...
Antoine
And camo!!! Needless to say, I'll have another try at splotches... Too much overspray too, I've had a problem with dilution... Took the wrong bottle, AK RC have to be diluted with AK diluant.
Antoine
Off the masks!!! Well... there will have to be more than a few touch up....
Antoine
A view from afar... Better than really close up!!! Downside...
Antoine
And here's where I am today, the flood is over. Second try at splotches, better but still not exactly what I want. Time for weathering now! Up to you gentlemen! Just hope the result so far pleas... do not displeased you to much!!
Antoine
I've found this yesterday in an old box. It should be easy to recycle it for the FW. I'm sure I can put my hands on the figs, and finding a few accessories will be easy.

opus999
Wow! This is terrific looking. I love that you painted the fin flash and national markings too. Great work so far!
Antoine
Slowly getting there... Still a few things to do, but I should call it finished later today... or tomorrow!
Marklo
Lovely build. By pure coincidence I’m planning on finishing my Airfix 1/72 190 in the same scheme.
Antoine
Thanks! In fact, I think it's quite common, as when you're looking for an alternate operationnal scheme, I mean something else than German, there are not too many... A lot more if you include captured aircraft, but....
opus999
That looks terrific so far! I really like that scheme. Are you leaving the bottom parts of the landing gear doors off? My F-8 was finished that way since the unit removed them to keep mud from collecting around the wheel. Very nice!
fubar57
Very nice. I love alternate markings

In fact, the U/C doors are in one part, and you've to cut them to leave aside the bottom part. This is what I've done.
Antoine
Small problem with the hood... It was clean, before gluing the headrest! Don't really know what happened. I've tried everything to make it clean again, but but in vain... Then I've to start preparing the Dio... Well, pardon me, not this one, this one!
Ray S
That looks good @Antoine, and a nice piece of recycling too! All the best, Ray

I wonder why that happened? I love the diorama, though and the build looks terrific so far. Gets me to thinking that I want to do this scheme one of these days! Parabat
Very nice so far, I really wouldn't worry about the spinner spiral, most of them were applied very roughly in the field. Close up pics show they can be pretty wonky!

Hopefully, it won't be seen with naked eyes! 2 hours ago, Parabat said: Very nice so far, I really wouldn't worry about the spinner spiral, most of them were applied very roughly in the field.
