Wow a veritable rats nest of wiring there! Level of detail is unreal.

Trevor the unworthy

yes its a modellers and person who dislikes doing cockpits nightmare!  But to be fair a lot of that was cast in the Back Box cockpit.  However there is still more to go!

Is there a superlative that is higher than epic? I'm at a loss for words...    :)

Cheers,

Awwww thanks mate, I have used a few superlatives so far LOL!

The work on this is incredible! The word masterpiece does not even come close👌

Really?  I see all the imperfections still, so thank you!!!

So I squeezed a bit of time in at the bench today and added some details to the centre cockpit/canopy section.  I found the structure and front seals were a but off so I re-did them.  Excuse the fit as it is only just dropped on top.

I poked a bright light in there to

But you get the idea

Thanks for tuning in as always!!

Your progress is enthralling Anthony and I'm already looking forward to the next episode.  I had a look around for that Wild Hare conversion set but couldn't find any information on it.  Is it an old OOP set?

cheers,

Mike

Well I suppose Van Gogh missed a few brush strokes as well 😉😄😄

Lol, I feel like I’m using a hairy frayed one at times lol

Thanks very much!  Been a long time gone that conversion. Honestly I wouldn’t bother and I would get the conversion bits for the Tamiya kit from @Ali62 and you’ll be on a better track. That conversion isn’t worth spending the silly money they’re asking nowadays

Thanks again Anthony,  I didn't realize Ali did those pieces.  I'll check his site and see what's available, hopefully the fuselage and exhausts.

cheers,

Mike

They’re the bits from my project. I’m sure the rest will be coming as Ali is keen on a full conversion

I'm curious what is the disc and hole for on the centre hoop?

Hi there, it’s for the TESS or Telescopic Sighting System. Essentially a periscope for the backseater to look forward. Only on RAF version as far as I know

I thought it was for the feeding tube to supply the jelly babies to the back seat lookout

Wow the tones of grey in the rear cockpit look awesome Tony

CJP

Thanks, I still need to tone the front and rear surfaces down to closer match the sills, but I’ll leave the outside colour alone. My black wire has arrived so time to look at some more wiring and experiment on making the’curly’ cord the cockpit light attaches to.

OK

More detail going in under the centre cockpit section with still more to go, but not too much. The 'curly cord for the hand held Grimes lamp on the left side and the bomb timer on the right side , again with placards to match photos.

I'm quite proud of my 'curly' cord lol

Yeeesh that's a bit close

The rear cockpit still needs a few more placards on the sides of the sills and the radar stick controller and canopy lock levers need to go on.  I even have a white placard decal (inside the clear part above the periscope hole) that is present on the actual plane, I didnt take a pic sorry, next time

Anyway, back to it I suppose!

Have you put masks on the glazing on the centre hoop or was it just painted over?

Just one of several highlights in those last few updates! The phrase 'detailing' doesn't really do justice to the observation and reproduction involved in work with this depth of attention to the original Anthony.

Sending  you an appreciative 😁 in case you haven't had one yourself yet.

Hi Anthony! What can I say? Your work is flawless, your attention to detail is inspiring and having spent all morning so far reading through this thread I’m wondering how I forgot this was here!

A 1/32 British Phantom would be an absolute dream for many of us. Who would’ve thought, a few years back, that we will have not just one, but two 1/32 scale Lancasters! So come on manufacturers, a FG.1 / FGR.2 would be a winner! A Buccaneer would be just amazing too, but let’s not be greedy right now. 😂

Congratulations on all the positive comments you’ve received, all very well deserved. I’m following this with complete envy of your skills Anthony and really look forward to seeing this progress.

I'd be proud of that chord too. Nice.

Haha, I was a little stressed about getting that to look right and in scale. 0.4mm black wire wound tightly around a tiny drill bit in case anyone is wondering lol

Oh I’m sorry I wasted half your morning Lol!

Mate, I can’t agree more, the world needs a 1/32 Brit Phantom! As you say, 2 Lancasters millions of Spitfires and 109’s but no 1/32 Brit Toom. I suppose market sales dictate. Keep nagging @Ali62 for some more bits and/or fuselage inserts/conversion stuff.

Don’t follow with envy mate, I’ve not got a clue half the time and make it up on the go! Anyone could do it as long as you’ve got plastic card and +2.50 magnifier’s over your progressive lenses….you’re all set!

Thanks all, I super appreciate your support and a few laughs along the way. Periscope is detailed and now fitted, might try and get that radar hand controller done next

Cheers

Anthony
