Hi all,

This is a bit of a long shot but does anyone happen to have any info or photos of 519 squadron’s B-17s? Would love to shine a light on the role the meteorological reconnaissance flights when I get round to tackling a B-17.

cheers

The easiest way to search Britmodeller is to use Google. I was aware of Tony's post on the 519 Fortress but I wasn't sure now long ago it was etc.

I used the Google search terms "Britmodeller tonyot 519" and it came up first. For practice you could try combinations of "Britmodeller, 519, B-17 and Fortress " and see what you get.

Despite the avaricious nature and problematic moral compass of the company, their product is extremely good and better than the search function on any board.

This does indeed work most of the time pretty well. If you need a little more precision, type in the search term in the following syntax into the Google search box

   tonyot 519 site:britmodeller.com

using whatever you want in place of tonyot and 519

same for other sites, and so on, e.g.

   hasegawa spitfire site:largescaleplanes.com

I have a friend who lives in Thurso in remote area and next tine I go visit  I am going to look at the memorial  dedicated to the crew who list their lives in this B-17 with Sdrn 519 .

Glad I’m not the only one to struggle with the forums search function... will try google next time.

Thanks for all the info, does seem like the met squadrons were not as well documented as some of the other raf squadrons but then it makes sense as they were a very small part of the war effort.

I had come across that story, the guys were certainly brave going up no matter how poor the conditions were! Considering that it’s amazing that more aircraft weren’t lost on met sorties during the war.
