Fencer-1
Recently completed Airfix 1/48 Folland Gnat in 1979 Red Arrows livery. Really enjoyable build witout any problem. Clever engineering, high level of details and exellent quality decals. Construction is straight from the box except Master brass pitot. Drop tanks and flaps attached with magnets. Lightningboy2000
That looks really nice & the paint finish looks spot on. What paint did you use if you don't mind me asking? Nice satin finish. Had that kit bought for me as a birthday present & wasn't going to do that scheme but yours has changed my mind! Martin
TheRealMrEd
Gorgeous paint job, and great looking cockpit. Well done! However, I would say that you probably overlooked the little Gnat's most famous wardrobe coloring: Just kidding... but seriously, good job. Martin Thank you! The paint is my own mix of Tamiya X-6 and X-5, polished and covered with gloss automotive varnish. There is very nice MRP-184 Signal Red (BS537) for Red Arrows finish as a good choice, but I haven't had it in the stash at the moment.

Your Tamiya mix is spot on & looks good against that black background, but your automotive varnish really does the trick. Was that straight from the rattle can or decanted? Decanted of course and slightly diluted. It is japanese Soft99 Body Paint (Clear). Very good quality varnish.
