Revell A330-303 - QANTAS

Romeo Alpha Yankee

Recommended Posts

I started this one a couple of years ago it seems, I had dabbled with it here and there to the point of paintwork, It's the 1/144 Revell A330-300 kit OOB using GE engines

This was my progress to date, well it is a fuselage

Decals for the project- prototype sheet for the QANTAS 2007 scheme from Pete at Hawkeye, soon for general release (Delivery scheme on this sheet as well (bottom set))

TIme to get it finished, considering QANTAS just celebrated 100 years in continuous operation.

and fixed with replacement sheet from Hawkeye post haste over a couple of sessions.

The wing walks need to be added and then touch ups on the gear before a final paint and fitment

Thanks Jean,

Wheels? Well there is the one A330 and a 1/72 B707 (E-8C)

Speaking of wheels, they are attached

Is the A330 the version once used by the RAF as a transport?  As you say, they are rare and I haven't managed to come across one yet.  As to civilian versions, your Qantas is probably the best livery I've seen on one.

cheers,

Mike

Yes Mike, the RAF used the A330-200 which has a shorter fuselage and taller tail. The last issue of the kit was a couple of years back in Thai Airways marking. Though you need aftermarket RR engines to make a RAF version.

I hope to get to my RAAF MRTT (KC-30A) next which has been stalled for a long time.

Just how many stalled airliners and their derivatives do you have lying about? 😁 looking good anyway

At last count (just the of the ones I can see around the cave): 17, and there is the military stuff...

Now ain’t that a cracking looking scheme... although I am a little biased with this subject. That’s a lovely finish you’ve achieved on this ‘Tree Tirty’ as our Irish CEO would say!
Cheers and well modelled.. Dave

A cracking model Ray 🤗

I've recently realised that I've not finished an airliner for over a year - repeat 50 times "I must try harder in 2021" and I do have an A330 in the stash but have been reluctant so far to cut it down to a "200"
