Bell209
WIP here: This started out as a very ordinary model I built back in (I think) 1981. Added the Hamilton Hobbies AP-3C (ELINT) conversion and Quickboost propellers, added some crew figures from a couple of WWII bomber kits that seemed to fit the bill okay and modified/scratchbuilt a few antennae, I retracted the gear as I wanted it as a flying desktop model and made the stand from an old bookshelf and brass rod. Decals from Aussie Decals (silvered like crazy) and C-130 prop decals from Bring It! (absolutely brilliant). The badges represent the flying squadron (10SQN) and the engineering support unit (SRSPO). It's going on my desk at work next year. It was always intended as a quick restoration build, not a full-on detail model. There's one in the stash for that but it will be an 11SQN standard AP-3C with Hawkeye Models decals and on its gear. Comments and critiques welcome. 27
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Very nice Rob, good to see it in all its glory I think you might mean DekLs decals for the next build. Hawkeye does not do any P-3 decals

Terry1954
Very nice Orion. I see you have a Neptune on the bench. Just wondering what scheme you have planned for that one? Terry
Bell209
It'll be 10SQN, too, Terry. Standard grey and white scheme with blue spinners. It's moving quite slowly atm but the WIP is on this forum and on Aussie Modeller International's, too.

Bell209
Thanks all. Should've mentioned this was my first use of Mr Color lacquer, too, which sprayed very nicely. H308 for the base; the props, antennae and walkways were painted with my usual Model Master enamels. A bit of weathering around the engine and APU exhausts with Humbrol weathering powder which went absolutely everywhere for days afterward - the jar and the other colour one I had went in the bin! Bell209
Thanks. Learned some good lessons on this rebuild which will be very useful for the one in the stash, too. The prop blade tool in the Quickboost lot of one - the blades are way too coarse for a static model and look to be at max pitch - not very realistic. The kit blades aren't far off the correct set for a static aircraft but you'll need to eyeball it. I set #1 propeller on this build at feather but the blade angles on the other blades is really too coarse for an aircraft with #1 loitered. If you're working the other engines that hard, you should've unfeathered three loitered engine!
