Giampiero, you are right I think: it's the many, many roadworks that makes driving on German highways so tiring. I didn't know the background that you're reporting, but that's pretty bad. Send the persons responsible across the border on the west, to see how it could be done.

 

By the way, Dutch highways are not perfect either. Due to the soft soil in (say) half the country, the roads are often undulating. Tonight I heard and felt some goods in the boot go flying, such was the undulation.
