cathasatail
2011 Display Hawk 1:72 Hi everyone! I'll admit, this build has taken a little while. Having commenced at the start of September, I had hoped to have time to complete it when I got some downtime in-between University work... oh how wrong I was! This Hawk is modeled on the 2011 display Hawk, flown by Flt Lt Juliette Fleming, that I was supposed to have seen displaying at the Cosford airshow that year. Unfortunately, the heavens opened and I believe we left the site early, with most of the displays curtailed and the fields rapidly changing from a solid to a more liquid consistency. So that was my first airshow... The kit is the new-tooled Revell 1:72 Hawk T1 (the Red Arrows boxing) and I have spruced it up with a few aftermarket goodies: -Instrument panels and wing fences from the Eduard "zoom" PE set -2 Pavla resin bang seats -a Master pitot probe -a PJ Production figure -decals from the Xtradecal X72137 set I also made sure to scratchbuild a great deal of the cockpit (see WIP thread), the rear fin fillet, the rear end above the exhaust nozzle, the nose electronics bay, the flaps and the crew access ladder/steps (not to mention the riveting as well!). Paint was, as ever, Vallejo Model Air and was finished with a matt coat, followed by a light spray of Alclad Aqua Gloss. Enough rambling, time for some pictures! Well there we are then, although I have had next to no time recently to spend on the build, it's been great fun. So now I've got one T1 and one T2 left to do, any suggestions for which T1 I should try to model next? (I've got decals for the Centre of Aviation Medicine, an ETPS Hawk, an early red/white Hawk, a 736sqn Navy Hawk?). Either way, thanks for dropping by and having a look, see you on the next one! Alpha Delta 210
Great model and pilot, Sam. My favourite special Hawk was the 100 Squadron Bomber Command scheme!
SAT69
The picture just before the last one does true justice to your work. Very well done and very nicely displayed.
Lightningboy2000
Very nice detailed work on that Revell kit. The Eduard Zoom etch, wooden plinth & the pilot really sets it off nicely. That's more inspiration to crack open my Revell kit. Martin

cathasatail
Thank you all so very much, I really appreciate it! 😊 23 hours ago, Alpha Delta 210 said: My favourite special Hawk was the 100 Squadron Bomber Command scheme! Well funnily enough I do have decals for that Hawk (and it would be a perfect opportunity to build one with pylons too)! Thanks for the suggestion!
