Have you tried mixing some sprue from the kit into a small bottle of Tamiya glue to create 'sprue glue' and run that along the seam lines of the kit ??

Just a thought

Ian

Hi There,

I have a bottle of sprue glue mixed in an old Tamiya bottle. It's one of my options if the current attempt hasn't worked.

May well be tried.

Cheers,

Alistair

baking soda is another one to mix with C/A from what I have read.

I only use flour now with CA - the end result is smoother than anything else. Although, if I'm not in a rush and I don't need a structural bond, I tend to use sprue gloop more and more, just as @Mancunian airman says.

Nice progress on the painting side, Simon

Well, after a coffee, a bit of hairy stick work on the pilots seat.

nice work on those nacelles!

…and on that seat - amazing! :)

Thanks, the nacelles were a pita with those seams but got there I think, the seat was OK , could of done better.

Thanks @rob85, @giemme, @Pete in Lincs, @AliGauld@mark.au, @dogsbody and @bbudde.

OK, time for some fiddly bits, some P.E. levers and plates?

A right pita to be honest, I would of left the moulded ones on if I could but the I.P. would not allow it with out surgery.

IMG_20210123_104249

That gives you an idea of the size of the little bleeders.

They are suppose to be curved in profile so after mucking up the first one I went into  old school mode.

Remembering somewhere back an article on P.E. seat belts and buckles. I bent the levers first then threaded them through the mounting plate before forming the curve on my patented jig.

A piece of cocktail stick C/A`d onto a stirrer.

IMG_20210123_104317

Just visible but you can see it better in the reflection .

And here they are placed not glued on the I.P.

IMG_20210123_105140

A bit of work to sort them out before tackling the main throttle quadrants.

I could be a while with those!!!

You all have a great weekend.

Stay safe.

Thanks @Pete in Lincs, @elger, @Tomoshenko, and @AliGauld.

To give peeps an idea of how small these levers are here is a pic of the ones for the main quadrant.

fitted in place with a drop of C/A.

And from the side.

IMG_20210123_185128

A bit blurred but shows there are there.

I have still got to put the bottom ones in before forming the "Plate" to the required shape.

Fun!!!!!!

I will add that despite how fiddly and pita they are, the IP looks much better with them so it is worth the effort. That's a nice shot of them below.

  • 5 weeks later...

Thanks @bigbadbadge, @giemme, @CedB, @mark.au, @elger, @Pete in Lincs, @Tomoshenko and @AliGauld.

Sorry about the delay but life etc gets in the way, that and this lockdown was starting t get to me but!!! I am back on the bench again catching up on things.

First up, some re-scribing of missing/erased panel lines on the outer nacelles.

IMG_20210223_133452

Sear belt added to one of the crew seats (who`s I don`t know)

IMG_20210223_133516

And finally have sorted the levers out as best as I can on the central console.

IMG_20210223_133535

I will adjust them once they are fitted.

Anyhow, I hope all is well where ever you are all are.

Thanks @Thom216, @CedB, @elger, @giemme, @AliGauld, @bigbadbadge, @bbudde, @Dr. Quack, @Pete in Lincs and @dogsbody.

Sorry for the slowness of the build at the moment but life keeps getting in the way.

But some progress, some masking of the fuselage windows, lots of them.

Thankfully I got the Montex sheet for her, saved my sanity no end.

IMG_20210301_150117

The ghostly foot ha ha.

Port side done, after a slight error on my behalf (not reading the part numbers right on the kit`s instructions)

IMG_20210301_152303

There is a difference between the mid "5" and rear "5" I will tell you.

IMG_20210301_152307

Not much but 2 of the windows are slightly longer.

IMG_20210301_152310

Just the other side to do, then build the canopy to mask that and the turrets too.

I am glad that I got the masking sheet....

Stay safe.

I wouldn't even contemplate a greenhouse canopy without one any more.

I have heard of some problems with Montex Masks, but I've used them o couple of times and had no problems.

In fact I had them on a Dakota build that they were on for a good month or two... ish with no issues.

Looking good.

Cheers,

Alistair

Yes, a great deal of time saved too.

I have a few more kits in the stash that I will be getting some P.C.M.`s for as well.

Thanks @CedB, @elger, @Dr. Quack and @dogsbody.

Well following on, I did the other side without any problems.

IMG_20210302_135055

Then it was the turn of the turrets.

Front first.

IMG_20210302_134132

IMG_20210302_134139

And then the rear.

IMG_20210302_134154

IMG_20210302_134210

And the rear piece of the rear turret which did not have any framing marks but a quick look at the ref pics showed the positions.

IMG_20210302_134224

Just the main canopy and bomb aimers position to do, once I have fixed the canopy together.

Stat safe.

The top right mask looks like it's lifting up. Other than that, neat job

It is Giorgio, but it is a bit of a pain. I will burnish it down just before spraying.

It has happened elsewhere but not as bad .
