Pete in Lincs
Well, I have Paul Brickhills' The Dambusters & Guy Gibsons' Enemy Coast Ahead. Both use the same phrase, 'Some armour was removed'. Inconclusive then. Perhaps in the film they mention the Pilots' armour. Or, maybe a previous builder has looked into this. Sorry to leave you hanging without a definite answer. Anyway, it's your build and I for one will go with your decision. Pete
Spookytooth
Thanks @Pete in Lincs, a lot of stuff was removed from the Lancs prior to the mission but as you said there is nothing conclusive to say it happened to all the planes that were used. I will probably fix the pilots armour to the seat but leave out the bomb sight as some of them were removed for security reasons. One thing I found out is that the mid upper turret was removed to save weight but the hydraulic pump and attachments were used to power the motor to spin the mine. As for the pub, my Mum visited the area a few years ago on holiday and stayed at the hotel nearby. Apparently the crews were housed there . In the garden there is one of the "Upkeep mines" . Thanks again for the information Pete. Take care and be safe. Simon. 1
Spookytooth
Thanks @giemme, @Tomoshenko, @CedB, @bigbadbadge, @Dr. Quack, @dogsbody, @AliGauld , @bbudde and @Pete in Lincs. Well some progress made. Outer engine nacelles built ready for priming. And her are the inner nacelle parts readied for priming/fixing. And finally for tonight the front turret got its gun barrels painted (Dark Iron). I have got to get myself another camera, the one on my phone doe not like taking close ups. All comments welcome. CedB
Nice work Simon Does the camera have zoom? On my phone I have to move back from the subject until the camera can focus and then zoom in. Any good?

Also, from a general photography point of view, moving back then zooming in to give the same field of view (roughly) results in a much better picture with less distortion than close up 2

So I will have to put up with for the moment (see above) Simon.
Spookytooth
Thanks @bbudde, @cobraleader, @Dunny, @giemme, @elger, @Pete in Lincs, @CedB, @Tomoshenko, @Dr. Quack, @rob85 and @AliGauld. Here at Spookytooth towers priming again. Out nacelles. Some remedial work there needed. Inner nacelle parts. Let that lot dry before some black I think. All comments welcome. Pete in Lincs
It's always good to get to the primer stage. That's where my latest build is and I'm now pondering on paint.

It is always so Pete, I have tried before to get all that needs a certain colour ready for spraying but find out but I have missed something LOL. Thanks @CedB Good old XF 1 next around the nacelles. The ejector pin marks won`t be seen once they are together, the U/C walls/frames will obscure them. Anyhow, time for a spot of lunch before breaking out the hairy stick(s). All comments welcome. Spookytooth
Ta @CedB. Well I made a boo boo on the spraying the bulkheads are interior green not black, confusing when the rest of the U/C bay is black, oh well, respray it tomorrow. So, I decided to play with some Milliput. I made some cushions for the pilots seat and Nav`s seat. See how that turns out. All comments welcome. We'll call it preshading and say no more. Put up a picture of kittens and no one will notice.
dogsbody
Three years ago, for Christmas, I got this set of small lenses for my phone. They come with a spring-loaded clamp to hold them in place. I've only used them a few times, but I can see they could be quite useful to kit builders. Chris
Tomoshenko
Yeh I got one of those and use it with my iphone. They're pretty good actually, and you can still zoom in and out. Only problem it shows up all my flaws and dodgy work...😉 2
Spookytooth
Thanks for that @dogsbody, it may come in useful, but I need a camera at some point before October as our son is getting married . But I will keep it in mind. My phone is a cheapo Alcatel so I am unsure of fitment. Simon.

If your phone is a slightly different shape that may let the clamp slide off, you could possibly glue some form of thin rubbery, non-slip material to the clamping surfaces. Spookytooth
Thanks @The Spadgent. @giemme, @CedB, @dogsbody, @bbudde, @occa. @Pete in Lincs, @cobraleader, @Tomoshenko. and @rob85. OK folks, still plodding along. First up I corrected the colour for the bulkheads and fuselage band? A better shot. Then broke out the primer again. Wheels and mine redone after remedial work. Outer nacelles again after remedial work. The spot will sand off easy. Still a seam line on the underside to fix. Inner nacelles next. Again, work needed on the underside. I hope that you are having a pleasant afternoon whatever you are doing. Stay safe. All comments welcome. Simon.

Spookytooth
Thanks @bigbadbadge, @giemme, @Pete in Lincs, @occa, @CedB, @AliGauld, @Tomoshenko and @HoolioPaulio. Sorry for the delay in posting but life gets in the way at times. Anyhow a little bit of hairy stick work this afternoon. Oil tanks were painted with a mix of XF 7 and XF9. I made a mistake the pipes are silver. Apply Mr Hobby H8. I will tidy up later. Also out with Mr Surfacer 500 to try and fill some small gaps, hopefully. I am not going to do anything more today as we had some very sad news, our friend and neighbour passed away this lunchtime due to this dreaded Covid 19. You all take care and stay safe.
