112 Squadron
Inspired by my visit at Hendon I decided to built five British Thunderbolts. The two Mk I kits are Academy whereas the Mk IIs are built from an Academy, a Hasegawa and a Hobby Boss Kit. I just took every Thunderbolt that I still had in my stash and made good use of the XRTADECAL Thunderbolt sheet. Some of the drop tanks were sourced from Hasegawa P-38 kits. Each of the planes was brush painted. TheyJammedKenny!
Really nice collection, and I especially love the diversity of colors and variants, as well as the weathering effects that show sun exposure on at least one of the bubble-top D's. Mike
Sorry to butt into this thread of jugs, but I brought here by another member who noticed that the pics were loading slowly. I tested some of the pics, and they were 1mb in size, which is huge when posting up on the internet. You should be aiming to save your files to around 200kb optimally, give or take a bit. To accomplish this, you can reduce the size of your pics, as anything over the recommended 1024 x 800 maximum we advise, it's wasted bandwidth and storage space useage. Most people view these pics on phones, tablets and 1080p screens, so huge photos of 4000 x 3000 px will have to be shrunk down by the forum software (load on the server and delay for the user), as well as the extra bandwidth that is uses up (10x what's necessary). The downsides of this from a viewer's point of view is the waiting time before you can view the pics, and some people might get bored and click away. From the server's point of view, it's wasteful of bandwidth, storage size (we cache images to improve speed), and it's also wasteful of the server's resources, which means a slower experience for all of us. This isn't meant as a "telling off" BTW, more of a bit of useful advice to help you as well as help us. If you can size your pics to the recommended limits, we'll be really happy, and so will the members As an example, your photo below is 4000px wide, and takes up 777kb, which doesn't sound a lot if you say it quickly, but even on my 500mbps internet this and the rest of the pics were loading really slowly. I downloaded it, cropped it a little to bin off the empty space, then saved it as a "high quality" jpg (60% compression), and my version is 92kb, and loads instantly. My pic is below. It's only displaying slightly smaller than your 4000 pixel pic, even though it's only 1024 pixels wide. I've hacked off the unnecessary background too, and saved it optimised for web display. Hope that helps 2

There's a thread on the subject buried away in the FAQ section if you need any further guidance Until 4K screens become the de facto standard for monitors, tablets and phones, like 1080p did, I think we'll stick with those. They're practical and save everyone some hassle, including people that never visit Britmodeller, because we're not taking up that extra wee bit of bandwidth on the general internet
