Calling all V-22 Osprey experts

Hi Folks,

I'm currently researching the possibility of building a USAF or USMC V-22 Osprey in 1:72 scale using the Hasegawa kit. The issue is that the only kit that seems to be readily available is a JGSDF variant and I'm wondering if this would be OK ?. I dare say there are differences in the 'lumps and bumps' that adorn the various sub-variants (MV-22 etc) but are they all, essentially, the same or do I need to look out for a specific boxing ?.

Thanks in advance

Sprue J has the USAF CV-22 specific parts. Besides the USAF kit, this JASDF kit also has that sprue.

Recently photos of the CV-22 show some extra antennas. Look at recent photos of the ones at Yokota and Mildenhall.

Seems most have given you the information needed for your build. These were taken some years ago and missed the last open house so I don't know what modifiications were done over the years. These should get you started.

Hope these get you started on your way.

Not a MV-22 expert nor do I know the difference between the US and Japanese versions however the US version seems to available on e-bay right from sellers in the US and Japan. A couple of months ago, I picked up a couple of the US Ospreys from sellers in Japan (around $60.00 US including shipping).. Hope that helps.

HLJ shows the 1/72 MV-22B kit E41 for $27.34 USD- they show them to be out of stock but can be ordered, You could check to see what shipping costs would be- they have announced a low-cost small airmail packet  option is available.
