My first Car! (Mini 1/24)

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I am calling this done but I guess it isn't really. I still intend the change the rear number plate for one with a sponsor's logo (Ferodo or someone) but it is near as makes no odds.

This is from the Tamiya 1/24 kit. I got it about 15 years ago but being a kid managed to start and then loose the roof!

The box has been looking at me since I got back into modelling last winter and when my brother gave me the roof from a mini kit which had been broken I knew it was on!

I made quite a few mistakes around the painting and polishing but eventually managed to get it finished acceptably with Humbrol Enamels.

I also stuffed up sequencing of build but hopefully I will make it work a little better next time!

I have absolutely loved it though and now have three cars in the stash waiting to be built (Beetle 1303 Cabriolet, Jag XK SS and Metro 6R4) . I have also read a tonne on clearcoats and have a "spot gun" in the post and am waiting to pull the trigger on an order of Zero two pack clear coat, so it wont be long before I am back!

Looks really good to me - cracking paintjob for your first car model - very nice indeed! And you might tell from my avatar I like anything classic Mini! And your bonnet prop looks pretty similar to what we use on our 1275 GT...!! 🤣

I look forward to future ones! 👍

That looks great. I may have to hunt one down. I've a love hate relationship with Minis. I loved mine 40+ years ago, we had such fun with it. :) Now, I think they're a fool of a car, uncomfortable, impractical & bloody nearly inaccessible when you're still built like a rugby lock forward but can't manoeuvre like one, still, I'd model one for old times sake & the memories, oh, the memories. :D

Your's brings them flooding back. :)

Steve.
