Lex77
Hi all, Will be joining this GB with the AMMO 1/48 kit which is a reboxed Kinetic kit. Not sure at the moment which scheme it will be but the Spanish one is favorite at the moment. 20201117_210912 by Lex de Kort, on Flickr Edited December 31, 2020 by Lex77
modelling minion
Always good to see a Zipper being built and the new Kinetic one is meant to be a very good one. Interested to see how the Ammo boxing differs from the standard kit Lex, and your builds are always great to follow.
exdraken
my vote goes for the Spanish one as well they did not even loose one in its whole (rel short) service life!
Shorty84
Can't go wrong with an NMF scheme. I've seen the Kinetic Zipper at my LHS recently and it looked like a great kit so you should have a fun build. Cheers Markus
Col.
Welcome to the GB Lex. You're going to attract a lot of interest with this one both as a popular subject and a kit many of us are curious to see built. Nice choice with the NMF finish and bright Spanish markings by the way

The only difference between this and the Kinetic kit are the decals and the manual which has some extra information and pictures.

Col.
The instructions look to be clear and well laid out.
reini
That looks to be a nice boxing. If I remember correctly the Kinetic version was quite light on the stencil decals. Good to see a nice amount of them included. Well, I say 'good' - even if I am not particularly fond of them. But I guess they are necessary evil in this scale, to get the proper 'busy' look that the planes have. I might still skip a few, just for my sanity Instructions look much nicer too, Kinetic one was black and white - and looked like a bad photocopy of the actual instructions.
Lex77
Previous build done so I can start on this one. Not very good in painting the cockpit so I bought some Eduard Look parts but as usual the colour used by Eduard is off. I'm in doubt what to do, try painting the IP myself in the right color of use te Eduard Look part. What would you do?
Col.
The curse of Eduard and their weird cockpit colours Perhaps feather in a little of the correct colour around the edge of the panel and adjust your colour in the 'pit close to the panel as well?
Lex77
It indeed is a curse. Will think about it tonight what the best way to go is.
modelling minion
I think that Eduard use the same colour on most of their modern western aircraft cockpit parts, you never know it might actually be correct for one or two of them but definitely not for the F-104. Might be best to try and give the grey areas a wash in a thinned down version of the correct colour.
franky boy
I’ve just had the same experience as you with this kit and the oddly Eduard ip Lex. I did as Col and Craig suggest and feathered in some of the right colour on the main areas and once it’s in the cockpit with the cover over it you’ll never notice.
