Col.
I'd say you need more Lightning kits to get the good of those decals and the references
Ratch
I've built one or two over the years BAC Lightning F3 1:72 Airfix 02080 Revell 1/72 BAC Lightning F.6 (04301) XR770/AA, No.5 Squadron, RAF Binbrook, 1987 1/72 Lightning F Mk 3, XR749/DA, Lightning Training Flight (10th Anniversary LTF, October 1985). Airfix 02068 1/72 Lightning F-1A XM186/B of 111 Squadron, Wattisham. When taking off from Wittering on 18 July 1963, to give a display for students from the Imperial Defence College, went out of control and crashed. Flying Officer Alan Garside, the pilot, was killed in the accident. Lightning F.3, XP706 ‘L’, 74 (F) Sqn., RAF Leuchars 1964. XP759/J of 23 Squadron RAF Leuchars May 1966. XR718/BK1, No.11 Squadron, RAF Binbrook, August 1984. Airfix 1/48 EE Lightning F.2A (A09178) XN793, 92 Squadron, Gütersloh, August 1972 XS901, 11 Squadron, RAF Binbrook, August 1978 Airfix 1/72 English Electric Lightning F.2A (A04054) XN781 flown by Wing Commander R. K. Barcilon, No. 19 Squadron, R.A.F. Gutersloh, late 1974. XN793 was flown by Wing Commander J. B. Mitchell, Commanding Officer No. 92 Squadron, R.A.F. Gutersloh, August 1972. Matchbox 1/72 BAC Lightning T55 (PK-126) Trumpeter 1/72 BAC Lightning F.6 (01654)  I think it all stems from my dad and granddad taking me to airshows at RAF Gaydon. In those days kids were allowed to lay on the grass next to the runway (beyond the rope that adults had to stay behind). These things would shoot past at (what seemed like) zero feet - - - - and then you'd hear it come and thunder past. Incredible!

Col.
While there's not much more interior detail within the cockpit than a pilot he's looking good enough to hold attention. Nice painting

Ratch
I painted the interior colour on the canopy of the F.6 by brush and then primed the Red Top missiles with white and the airframe with gloss black. At this point I decided that none of the markings in my decal bank are good enough and promptly ordered another sheet from Hanants.
Ratch
Whilst waiting for decals I shot Dull Aluminium over the airframe as a base.

Ratch
The whole model has been sprayed with Klear mixed with a little Vallejo 26.518 Matt Acrylic Varnish to give a slight satin finish. I removed the masking from the transparencies at this point and applied the canopy seal with a ruling pen.
