BritJet Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 The Mig-23UB is the two-seater version of the well known Mig-23 and this is the Art Model kit straight from the box in Iraqi Air Force markings. The kit includes decals for 16 different schemes so there's plenty of choice and leftovers for the spares box. Steve 21
Ryan Hothersall Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Nice build. was that the Artmodel kit?.
Cessna Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Nice model... Maybe you can get graphite pen and fill the panel lines?
BritJet Posted November 16, 2020 Author Posted November 16, 2020 Thanks guys. 9 hours ago, Ryan Hothersall said: Nice build. was that the Artmodel kit?. That's the one, nice kit but totally over the top number of decal options! 9 hours ago, Cessna said: Nice model... Maybe you can get graphite pen and fill the panel lines? I think my lighting has washed the colours out a bit so I'll have to look at the camera settings. All the photos I looked at of arab MiG-23s looked very clean and well looked after so I didn't want to weather it. I'm not a fan of pre-shading and every panel line having a dark outline as most aircraft don't look like that. I totally get that dirt accumulates in certain places but, for me, it is often overdone in model form and so I tend to avoid it. I have got a Sea Vixen and Scimitar that I've weathered underneath the engine bays after working from photos so it is something I do at times. There are photos of the Iraqi AF 23s after the US forces got to them and they are covered in graffiti which would make for an interesting model. Cheers. Steve
Jabba Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 Good work and nice to see the wing "roundels" placed correctly.
Ryan Hothersall Posted November 16, 2020 Posted November 16, 2020 BritJet, I found the exhaust did not fit at all. Did you have that problem?.

I thought they should be lined up this way and eventually found a photo to confirm it. 7 hours ago, Ryan Hothersall said: BritJet, I found the exhaust did not fit at all. Did you have that problem?. Absolutely, my plan was to leave the jetpipe out until all the camo had been sprayed but found out after closing the fuselage that it wouldn't go in without some trimming. Cheers. Steve
exdraken Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 looks nice! just a suggestion: maybe you could try to take photos in better, at best natural light! then the camera does not struggle that much, and we would appreciate you model even more! Werner
SAT69 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 You've presented a very nice model. Congratulations on great work!
Vultures1 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 Really nice work! ArtModel kits are not always the easiest and you have done a great job with yours - well done

Steve Yes the Iraqi air force does a strange thing with the "roundels" on their swing wing aircraft, in that the point of the triangle points forward when the wings are folded back.

Werner I would love to but this is the UK in the winter and decent daylight, dry, calm days are in very short supply! To be fair it's that much different at any other time of the year...... I will have another go at the photos though as the colours do look different to the model in real life. On 17/11/2020 at 17:28, Vultures1 said: Really nice work! Surprisingly difficult to find photos at the right angle for confirmation but glad I got it right as it would have been annoying to find out after finishing it. Steve 1
