Good evening mates,

I'll join this GB with Hasegawa Sabre Dog in 1/72 scale.

Some Eduard etched sets are also prepared

Decals I will use are Lift Here made - set 714-LH...

...and will represent "white 088" camouflaged example, based at Pleso airport (Zagreb) in 1966.

Work will start soon, so 'till then, cheers and enjoy the builds :)

Beeing busy with work on other GB projects I worked slowly on the cockpit of the "Dog"... so, here we are - cockpit is ready for instalment!

I still have much work on projects in GBs that are due to finish near the end of the year, so this one may have a bit more slow start, but it will be in progress for sure! ;)

Cheers,

S.

Good to see you've been working on this one S :) Hopefully everything is fitting together well, although I notice what looks like some extra plastic sheet between the nose undercarriage bay and cockpit, nothing too untoward going on there?

Thanks Col.

Actually I'm very pleased with the fitting of parts - it may sound a bit odd, but this is my first aircraft Hasegawa kit to assemble, and I'm very satissfied with fitting level.

This styrene sheet below the cockpit is just to strengthen a bit placing of the cockpit as it rests only on its side joins to the cockpit halves - maybe a most puzzling fitting on this one so far - no placeholders... just glue the cockpit tub to the fuselage half :D

Anyways, I hope it won't take me too long until fuselage halves joining - I'm currently working on few GBs kits so.... :D

Cheers,

S.

Thanks Col.

Yes, usage of putty was mimimal, but I have a feeling I could avoid it almost fully if I have put some less lead balast into nose - that made fitting a bit harder so fuselage halves didn't match quite well on few places.

Progressing towards end....

Preshading is done, as well as painting of radome cone, wheelbay and exhaust pipe.

Some masking of these areas to follow, and we're after painting cammo... finally!

Thanks Col. ... here is the after-decals state - not great, not terrible!

These decals are "Lift here" ones, but unfortunately old batch printed by Begemot - they were very yellowish, so they were exposed to sunlight for a month or so, and maybe adhesive lost its power, so silvering is a bit visible on few places in spite of gloss surface and a lot of MicroSol & MicroSet :( Decals also tended to wriggle on few places and after MicroSol treatment they didn't straighten fully... I've tried to tap them with Q-tip while drenched in MicroSol, but that didn't help either... so.. it is like it is... no way back... Gloss is over decals now... Hopefully wash and final coat of semigloss will improve look a bit... it's mostly visible in vivo, not so much on photos :)

Regardless of the decals best attempts to spoil the party you're continuing to gain a great look on this one S. With such a well weathered paint job pristine markings would look wrong anyway so it's for the best they are not perfect ;)

That one week GB extension really helped me to finish this one with ease, so once again big thanks to @Col. and @Enzo Matrix!

Final touches were doing wash (artistic oils), and glueing of small bits.

Landing light in front of nose gear was made from Kristal Klear, while rear view mirror is part of Eduard PE set.

Here are the final photos...
