JWM
I believe that somewhere must be drawings that fits to given kit... I mean - even it is not accurate it must be based on same drawings . So perhaps it would be much wise to trace and identify (show and name them) wrong drawings, before they turn to wrong-shaped kits! MikeR
SH had my interest when they said they were going to do the Swiss version. If the kit needs a little tweaking here and there then that's not a problem. Mike.
IanC
I'm with you on that one, Mike. While I don't wish to dismiss the concerns of others, one thing this bloody awful year has finally taught me is not to get too obsessive about an inexpensive plastic kit! It won't be the first time I've had to shave a few mm off a gear leg. 🙂

IanC
I like the varied decal options for this one. That JG52 aircraft with the white ID markings will look good next to my Airfix 'yellow-nosed blighter' E-4.

They announced this version a few months ago: Bf 109E-1 (SH72454) Bf 109E-3 (SH72443, SS018) Bf 109E-3a Swiss Air Force Bf 109E-4 (SH72439) Bf 109E-4 Night Fighter Bf 109E-4/B Bf 109E-7 Bf 109E-7/Trop. Bf 109T IIRC foreign users of Bf 109E are planned for separate box. I'm not sure if they are planning less known variants but I wouldn't be surprised with E-5, E-6 or E-8, because why not? Personally I think they may release separate T-1 and T-2 boxes too. Edited May 11, 2021 by Piotr Mikolajski Typo 1

The colors are very washed out as if some attempted to color just the number in and didn't really attempt anything else. The background sky is almost identical to the fuselage RLM65. Piotr Mikolajski
A colour photograph of this aircraft, with the grey emblem, in much better quality, is published in the second volume of Merrick's "Luftwaffe Camouflage and Markings 1933-1945", on page 249.

JackG
Concerning the devil head of 2./JG26, it was originally red, but also of a different design: During the summer of 1940, it became silver or white, and eventually had its location moved to the nose of the aircraft - according to the book by Barry Ketley on Luftwaffe emblems. In the photograph history of JG 26 by Donald L. Caldwell, there is a photo on page 18 that clearly shows a dark coloured devil's head of the later design, quite similar in tone to the red 16 on the fuselage. Caption provides only a spring 1940 date. regards, Jack Edited May 14, 2021 by JackG
