F-106A Delta Dart ***Finished***

Unbuilt in box, this model looks amazing, it's my personal impressive.

I have exactly the same but with  two aftermarket Resin Sets  Meng and Master Pito.  But I personally do not like those decal options that are inside Meng, will You make them, or will You use an aftermarket decal?

In my personal opinion, in the Meng model, the decal in the box is very weak when compared to the aftermarket decal:

For the F-106, the manufacturer's original technical manual for the repair and maintenance of the interceptor is freely available for download, but the model is so well made that I just don't see the point in modifying it.  Of course, if You are interested in this guide, You can find the download link here:

As for my

very good and highly recommend site for F-106 fans!

Undecided on the decal options. Will have a look at the Fundekals page.

As for my most interesting nose art  F-106 it's Dick Stultz Nose Art -

"TAZ", "Lurch IV" "Big Red1" and "Bones Crusher":

unfortunately, as far as I know, there are such options either in very old Hasegawa decals in models or Microscale decals, unfortunately both decals are rare.

Now do You understand why I think the Meng version of the decal in the model is not very good?

I have been searching for some aftermarket decals. I came across a sheet by Wolfpak Decals, for the century Series. As well as containing an interesting F-106A it contained a scheme for an F-104A which I had also been looking for, so I pressed the BUY NOW buitton.

I will be completing the F-106A as the 'Cornfield Bomber'. For those who don't know the story, the "Cornfield Bomber" is the nickname given to a F-106, operated by the 71st Fighter-Interceptor Squadron. In 1970, during a training exercise, it made an unpiloted landing in a farmer's field in Montana, suffering only minor damage, after the pilot had ejected from the aircraft. The aircraft, recovered and repaired, was returned to service, and is currently on display at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.

More information on the story can be found here. https://www.f-106deltadart.com/580787cornfieldbomber.htm.

The kit has a number options, early/late instrument panel, different ejection seats and the open weapons, avionics bays.

I made a start on some of the sub assemblies.

@Col. Sorry, the F-104A won't be making an appearance, will tight to hit the deadline with this and the F-102A.

Made some progress, the fuselage is together. I found the F-102A a dream to assemble, this one is harder work. To my mind the plastic is different, seams a little more brittle.

No problem, your Dart and Dagger are going well and deserve your full attention, the -104 will fit into the Century Series GB well if you decide to save it for then :)

Nice progress again. I didn't realise you had the radar and fire control computer/avionics (?) bay open on this one

Calling this one done.

Having built both Meng's F-102 and F-106, I have to say that I preferred the F-102. The F-102 was a nice simple build, the F-106 felt to me a bit fussy in comparison.
