I’ll let that dry for now but I did prime the other Hind.

The other Hind is on its way to the paint shop?! 😹 You’re going fast! I hope I’ll apply some paint on my Hind soon.

The pre shading looks great and I think I need to borrow some of your techniques. 👍

Gday Johnny, just caught up with your new year progress, definitely not lazy work... but I did have a suspicion that you might be nuts !!! I always wonder about the psychology of somebody waking up one day thinking  "it would be a good idea to add thousands of rivets to this".......

Nice work mate

Cheers

Interesting technique, I’m thinking of trying this on my FW190 and F117.

Still dying to see some camo go on :)

Thanks. Go for it. 🙌 I’ll get back onto her soon. Working on the “other” hind at the mo. 😇

Looking good Johnny... that pre-shading will look great under some thin top layers.

I do hope so. Thanks. 🙌

A busy-busy project. Looks really nice thus far. Do you adopt a particular approach with pre-sprayed panel lines?

Low pressure for the following coats?

Thanks. As for the approach. I tend not to fiddle with the pressure. Just light trigger finger and close to get tight ish lines. The rest is just a feel for where the darker bits are.

Oh my word that’s just insane !!!

Sorry for the pause. As mentioned above I’ve been working on the little one for a few days. I’ll shift back onto this soon. 🤩

-Thank you Johnny the work on riveting is making progress slowed by some eye tiredness. This leave me some free time to study this form of madness  called "Rivetite" it is a reversed evolution of the usually benign form called "rivetitus vulgaris" which consist in removing rivets on model kit when the appear. The lockdown could be responsible ot this mutation. No medicinal vaccine on the markett but the whisky could be helpfull, problem, the treatment has to be renewed every day  in one or several ingestion....however some undesirable effects may appear, the worst being an alteration of visual perception or even some amnesy in case of over dose......😇

“Up from the depths, ten stories high, Godzilla! Godzilla!” Weellllll not quite but I’m glad this beast is back in focus. I have been working on my Hind A over the past few weeks but I’m now at the switching point again. Today wasn’t all about this but I did get paint on plastic.
I decided to start with the belly.

50919628786_fa9c6cd2a8_b.jpg

The blue went down really well and the rivets are fine. ☺️
Here she is just out of the booth.

50919628756_ae2a6251de_b.jpg

I decided to free hand this part then mask for the camo. As you can see the pre shade will still carry onto the upper surfaces.

50918934343_52d946f51b_b.jpg

Here’s a close up so you can see some of the details. It shows up all the bits and loose dust but that brushed off and will be lost under the washes.

50919758342_308e038673_b.jpg

After a rub over to get rid of the loose particles I’m about 90% done masking the belly. I wanted to get on but it’s national Yorkshire pudding day and dinner won’t make itself. 😇

50918934108_db5dba6da4_b.jpg

everything is set so this should progress pretty quickly.  Thank you for being patient. I’m 100% in paint mode. 😍🧑‍🎨

Thanks for looking in. Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Take care and as always.

Happy Modelling.

Johnny. 😀

The paint job is looking super over all the rivets and preshading, but give us more warning about the Yorkshire Puds next time!

Hey love birds. A Valentine’s Day update. ❤️
It’s been a busy work week yet again so progress has been slow but the weekend has given a little bit of time for paint antics.

initial camo was decided upon and the technique was going to be free hand light then mask and spray dark.

here I lightly marked the camo outlines using a white water colour pencil. If you zoom in you can see the lines on the fuselage front.

50944233912_f8f10c2565_b.jpg

Then I free handed the light grey/green.

50943434133_afd820b522_b.jpg

Not very green I know but it’s the colour stated and I have seen hinds like this. I really like the stark difference in the camo and I have decided done anything like this before so I’m running with it.

Here’s the other side.

50943435013_cb3cb79b76_b.jpg

An action shot showing the bits of dust that get stuck in my paint. 😩 it’s only fine and brushed off when dry but still a p.i.t.a

50944234837_baba402694_b.jpg

It’s going to be a real struggle to find the lines again. 😱

After much thought I decided to go with small worms. It’ll be slightly feathered but looking tight enough.

50943434913_9bf8e3a1e5_b.jpg

This bit took an age. Not the worms. 🐛

50944234582_3fea5effaf_b.jpg

The filling of the gaps.

50944134806_6e100f51ca_b.jpg

But eventually we got there.

50943434498_dce5e33359_b.jpg

The paint went on like a dream after that.

50943434408_8d41a81e02_b.jpg

And over on the other side.

50944234062_87e031623d_b.jpg

I left that to dry before peeling everything off this morning.🌞 well more ❄️🌧🌬 but you get my drift. 🤣

Well here we go.

50944134396_5be600b09e_b.jpg

Well she’s stark! 😀

The worms worked well.

50943434103_f1d37fd079_b.jpg

With little to no fixes needed e en on the awkward parts.

50944134196_31cf7234fc_b.jpg 50944233907_ec01d1c840_b.jpg

I’m a little bit in love with her. I almost went to try and copy the exact box colours and go Sandy and brown but I’m glad I stuck to this. 😍

A gloss coat was next up so I can get on with the under carriage, decals and weathering. 🤩

50943434258_cac041181c_b.jpg

The under belly.

50944134391_d89fb2c84e_b.jpg

And the rivets really show up even through the top coat. So this is primer paint and gloss. 😇 nobbly bobbly indeed.

50944234842_aa6b1fac61_b.jpg

Time for the wheels. These got cut off and tidied but I only got this shot for now.

50943434978_134b78b3ed_b.jpg

I do love Tamiya rattle can gloss. Due after an hour or so which meant I could get on with the decals. @giemme avert your eyes. Zvezda decals are really shiny but I actually like them, not too thick. This tail flash looked like it was going to be a right pain to begin with. 😬😱

50944135046_bbf5b8505b_b.jpg

And yes I know it’s the other side but both conformed using micro sol.

50944134701_1927b59a72_b.jpg

I’ll probably do another sol pass tomorrow after they are totally settled.

50943434523_f89132fcb6_b.jpg

Still a few to add but there aren’t that many really.

50944234477_eff2a1f8fa_b.jpg

There are lots of sun assemblies to build. all the hatches and doors need opening back up, the weapons and of course the weathering. 🌧🌞

This is where we are right now.

50944234222_8a095a496b_b.jpg

I have half term off but Gemma has work planned for me. 🤣😱 but I’m sure I can eek in some bench time here and there.

Thanks for popping in. It’s so nice to have this one back in the spotlight.

Hope you like the progress.

All the best dear hearts and as always.

Happy modelling.

Johnny. 🐊
