VT Red Sox Fan
Johnny, thanks for the walk through—a picture is certainly worth a 1000 words—I really can’t wait to start the next build—this Hind is looking great! Best, Erwin

JJ2016
Gday Johnny, just caught up with your new year progress, definitely not lazy work... but I did have a suspicion that you might be nuts !!! I always wonder about the psychology of somebody waking up one day thinking "it would be a good idea to add thousands of rivets to this"....... Big Dave S
A busy-busy project. Looks really nice thus far. Do you adopt a particular approach with pre-sprayed panel lines? Low pressure for the following coats? 1

The rest is just a feel for where the darker bits are. 2 hours ago, Nikolay Polyakov said: How about this, JJ?! 😬 Scratchbuilt 1/32 Mil Mi-24 Hind. Oh my word that’s just insane !!! The Spadgent
“Up from the depths, ten stories high, Godzilla! Godzilla!” Weellllll not quite but I’m glad this beast is back in focus. I have been working on my Hind A over the past few weeks but I’m now at the switching point again. Today wasn’t all about this but I did get paint on plastic. I decided to start with the belly. The blue went down really well and the rivets are fine. ☺️ Here she is just out of the booth. I decided to free hand this part then mask for the camo. As you can see the pre shade will still carry onto the upper surfaces. Here’s a close up so you can see some of the details. It shows up all the bits and loose dust but that brushed off and will be lost under the washes. After a rub over to get rid of the loose particles I’m about 90% done masking the belly. I wanted to get on but it’s national Yorkshire pudding day and dinner won’t make itself. 😇 everything is set so this should progress pretty quickly. Thank you for being patient. I’m 100% in paint mode. 😍🧑🎨 Thanks for looking in. Hope you are all having a great weekend. Take care and as always. Happy Modelling. Johnny. 😀

The Spadgent
Hey love birds. A Valentine’s Day update. ❤️ It’s been a busy work week yet again so progress has been slow but the weekend has given a little bit of time for paint antics. initial camo was decided upon and the technique was going to be free hand light then mask and spray dark. here I lightly marked the camo outlines using a white water colour pencil. If you zoom in you can see the lines on the fuselage front. Then I free handed the light grey/green. Not very green I know but it’s the colour stated and I have seen hinds like this. I really like the stark difference in the camo and I have decided done anything like this before so I’m running with it. Here’s the other side. An action shot showing the bits of dust that get stuck in my paint. 😩 it’s only fine and brushed off when dry but still a p.i.t.a It’s going to be a real struggle to find the lines again. 😱 After much thought I decided to go with small worms. It’ll be slightly feathered but looking tight enough. This bit took an age. Not the worms. 🐛 The filling of the gaps. But eventually we got there. The paint went on like a dream after that. And over on the other side. I left that to dry before peeling everything off this morning.🌞 well more ❄️🌧🌬 but you get my drift. 🤣 Well here we go. Well she’s stark! 😀 The worms worked well. With little to no fixes needed e en on the awkward parts. I’m a little bit in love with her. I almost went to try and copy the exact box colours and go Sandy and brown but I’m glad I stuck to this. 😍 A gloss coat was next up so I can get on with the under carriage, decals and weathering. 🤩 The under belly. And the rivets really show up even through the top coat. So this is primer paint and gloss. 😇 nobbly bobbly indeed. Time for the wheels. These got cut off and tidied but I only got this shot for now. I do love Tamiya rattle can gloss. Due after an hour or so which meant I could get on with the decals. @giemme avert your eyes. Zvezda decals are really shiny but I actually like them, not too thick. This tail flash looked like it was going to be a right pain to begin with. 😬😱 And yes I know it’s the other side but both conformed using micro sol. I’ll probably do another sol pass tomorrow after they are totally settled. Still a few to add but there aren’t that many really. There are lots of sun assemblies to build. all the hatches and doors need opening back up, the weapons and of course the weathering. 🌧🌞 This is where we are right now. I have half term off but Gemma has work planned for me. 🤣😱 but I’m sure I can eek in some bench time here and there. Thanks for popping in. It’s so nice to have this one back in the spotlight. Hope you like the progress. All the best dear hearts and as always. Happy modelling. Johnny. 🐊
