I’m a little bit in love with her. I almost went to try and copy the exact box colours and go Sandy and brown but I’m glad I stuck to this. 😍

The colours went so sexy, Johnny! The light tone is an XF-76 and which was the darker one?

There are lots of sun assemblies to build. all the hatches and doors need opening back up, the weapons and of course the weathering. 🌧🌞

I can imagine how she’ll looks with the Flory Wash applied all-over... 😋

Excellent progress dear Spad, congratulations on having the Hind out of the paint shop. 👍

Impeccable paint job, Johnny - as usual, I must say :worthy: :worthy:  Glad to see the decals are setting properly - those long yellow strips on the tail, with writings on them, could have potentially turned into a huge nightmare ... :phew:

Gosh! Scrolling through your updates is like a crash course in surrealism! I think we ended up with a helicopter after the acid trip....

Shrooms and blu tac. 🤪

Thanks Nikolay. The paints are the Zvezda call outs. I’ll use the XF-76 on the A . The lighter is XF-80 and the darker is XF-61 (I think) I’ll check tomorrow.  (Checked yes XF-61)

Morning Britmodellers. 😃 progress has been made. Slow and steady but always in the right direction which is good. 😍

The yellow bands got some paint touch ups to fix their short comings.

along with a few other little bits here and there.

50961079388_a7a87b0046_b.jpg

50961079813_00b40a9d21_b.jpg

I’d not made the PE front UC door so that got folded and the oh so tiny brackets added.

50961079358_85903e9698_b.jpg

It is a lot better than the kit one. 👌

50961079768_6f654f0a5b_b.jpg

All the bits so far that have been prepped got a good prime. You can see the exhaust cowls still in bits as I need to paint inside first.

50961079408_15e498495a_b.jpg

All these got a pre shade then a top coat of paint.

50961785296_7e86dd2b15_b.jpg

I got wheel masks with the resin replacements but was disappointed to see I had to paint them backwards to the way I usually do it. The masks were meant to be used like a polo to mask the tyre. Fortunately I used the middle waste bit and masked my wheel instead. So if anyone needs wheel masks for this let me know. 😉

50961079363_6500d7c2bb_b.jpg

This little pod got added too before a flory wash.

50961885582_d6f47b0078_b.jpg

Now the fun starts. Dark dirt is my wash of choice. @Nikolay Polyakov had mentioned that the was I had sent had gone a bit grainy. This one had too so shaking and stirring and then decanting via a pipette got it back to a good consistency. I’d also noticed that my pot had all of the pigment float to the bottom so the liquid was almost free of it. Which was odd. Like an emulsion. The shaking and such sorted this though so a word to the wise. 🥸

coat on with a medium flat brush.

50961885302_ce3b0e18ef_b.jpg

I initially loaded a larger brush but it soaked up far too much flory and didn’t give any back so I opted for the medium as pictured.

Here she is dried out.

50961885607_d005bd698a_b.jpg

Now I have thought about this next step quite a bit. You can just rub off excess with a cloth or paper towel. I tend to go at it in a more methodical approach. I use cotton buds, sponges, cloths and sometimes my naked fingers to remove exactly the right bits of flory I don’t want and leaving the bits I do. It’s as much of a process as the pre shade is to my painting.

Here is a first pass.

Close up of the nose.

50961885297_1d3022e973_b.jpg

Belly.

50961079433_fa080df627_b.jpg

And side.

50961885647_829b2d8538_b.jpg

I’ll do this in a few passes before committing to a gloss coat. So more today in better light.

Hope you’re enjoying the build. I’m looking forward to opening her back up again. More later fingers crossed.

All the best and Happy modelling.

Johnny. 😇

- I experienced the same with Flory but curiuously not with all the pots, the black are quite good for instance...Very good looking Hind Johnny..for mine, the rivet step is over and masking has begun before painting process...

Looking fantastic Johnny, enjoyed following this whole build but especially these final steps.
I have had the same issues with the Dark Grime wash, it definitely needs agitating properly each time I use. (It usually stands for months as I'm such a slow builder)

Another day I used it for the small bits inside the cockpit and everything went great, just like it were two different bottles of Flory Wash... 🤨 Strange, but works!

The rivets are so in-scale under the coats of paint and really popping under the wash - this is spectacular work, Johnny! 👏

Looking very resplendent Johnny.

And with the other parts readied for paint it won`t be long before another masterpiece rolls off the "Spadgent" production line.

Stay safe sir.

Simon.

No pressure then. 🤣 Thank you Simon, far too kind. 😃

I’m not the only one then. Ooh glad yours is moving along. I hope the rivets went well for you.

Hey you lot. A little more was done over the weekend. I wrote down the steps I wanted to do and just ran at them. I don’t know what it is but you get to this point in a build and there seems to be so many disparate parts you don’t quite know what to tackle first. So I’ll buzz through what got done.
The exhausts got painted last time but I forgot to post the pic. This is post Flory.

50961885247_9c055bb149_b.jpg

The exhaust cowl had its internals painted “steel” and washed.

50970977812_fcfbeab79f_b.jpg

Then assembled.

50970176203_62cb378ded_b.jpg

All the small bits got their wash done and knocked back.

wheels.

50970977702_cdc04e3fa0_b.jpg

Front gear.

50970175978_2d83e89f8b_b.jpg

The engine dust covers.

50970875576_6c7aa9161a_b.jpg

Rear fins.

50970176013_7faf75a8b6_b.jpg

Front UC door.

50970977222_123af0841a_b.jpg

Soo many little bits. 🥸

The UC got the hydraulic chrome painted.

50970977577_7cc6a9cfd0_b.jpg 50970875151_f9950ea428_b.jpg 50970875501_c8377dcc1d_b.jpg

And the dust covers got assembled.

50970875126_0e3ee2ce2d_b.jpg

I also got the AK streaking fluid on the go and added some subtle filters.

50970176273_0c8827a458_b.jpg

And at the front.

50970977647_501c541225_b.jpg

The belly.

50970875491_172d5897a1_b.jpg

And around the winglets.

50970176003_070a4b5e8a_b.jpg

It’s a lovely touch that really makes me happy. 🤩

A mat coat was applied and some drying happened before I started opening her back up. 🤞🤞🤞🤞 for no over spray.

looking good so far, the exhausts got glued on too after some light weathering.

50970977237_386cba94c9_b.jpg

Engines are out!! Luckily no damage. 🤩

50970875531_057c4f049c_b.jpg

The rear cabin is open!!! 😊🙃

50970977187_2cfe7e6ef3_b.jpg

And the dust filters got glued.

50970875561_2440e4bbca_b.jpg

Just the rear UC doors to do.

50970977827_fc90a0dd6e_b.jpg

Woot!! All open and no damage to speak of. 🙂 phew. I can see lots of little actuator rods in my future. 🤣😂

Not to mention lots of weapons. 😜

hope you all have a great week.
