or did the BM upgrade lose the little post numbering system?

Yup, the 3rd party addon that used to do that is no longer maintained by the developer, so Mike would need to go hunt for another one without breaking stuff ;)

I'm here too in time for page 1 I hope! - is it me or did the BM upgrade lose the little post numbering system?

Great choice Ced. They are pretty rare to find it seems unless you are prepared to part with big bucks. Always fancied doing a Kestrel. Must put that on the wishlist.

Terry

Not found these kits that rare or expensive. I have three in my stash and a Heritage Kestral as well. This build might just persuade me to build one of them.

Sorry all, I've been 'concentrating' on the Dogfight Double - back soon! :)

Thanks Bill, very kind as always :)

Welcome Craig, Johnny, Andy, Ruskin Air Services, Geoff, Gondor, hendie, Terry, Pete and alt.

I am looking forward to this but I must finish the others first.

Probably.

Little ice cream tubs with wee wooden spoons, heavenly.

Licking the scraped out ice creamy waxed cardboard too, just to obtain all of a rare childhood treat then nibble away the spoon too.  ;)

I didn't like Kia-Ora either.

Didn't she wear a grass skirt in that Elvis film?

Good man Bill - I didn't like the wax but À chacun son goût eh?

That's French that is.

I think :D

Of course! As my Mum used to say, you never know when you might get run over.

They mess you up your parents (misquote for politeness) :D

Migod I hope never to find out

Now that's a tempting challenge.

Perhaps when we next get to a SMW I can scare you with the threat Bill!

Not in a General Melchett way, obviously :D

Scratching the outrigger is weighing on my mind.

I might have to do something, soon.

Scare me?

Piff

I am able to take it Ced, just be careful I don't take it

And run away with it to the car park to set it afire, that'll learn you that will.

The missing outrigger?

A very good place to start.

I have searched (half-heartedly I admit because it is modelling and I have quite reasonable recall for old modelling projects) amongst the depths of my spares boxes hoping to find it.

Sadly not, so it is all yours warts and all, sorry mate.

  • 2 weeks later...

Don't worry Biggles. Unusually for Ced nothing has actually happened yet.

Yet....

You wait. I'll tune in here tomorrow and the bloody thing will be hanging from the ceiling!

I have spare outriggers - a complete set. PM me your details and I'll mail them.

Now there's an offer deserves consideration grasping warmly by the throat.

Ced make up your mind or Bill is going to intercede... (he warned)

Not to worry Bill, the kind donation of the kit was generous enough! :)

No worries John - I'm still finishing the Dogfight Double. Should be on this soon though… :)

I knew I shouldn't have started a thread before I actually started the build. Sorry chaps! :)

Some may wonder why Bill is getting so involved

Most will recognise guilt in action  :(

(I swears I didn't know there was anything missing but I do feel very guilty about it. I could have sent Ced the newer kit that resides in my cupboard but but by a whim I thought "give the bloke a really old one to play with")

Right, dogfight double finished! Now I can concentrate on this one.

Found a great picture with the pose I'd like to replicate:

First job is to cut the flaps I guess.

Gulp.

Thanks Adrian :)  Do it! Do it!

I have started.

Wings glued together ready for the flap removal (still gulp). There's a 'hinge' moulded into the flap gap. Grrnngh.

I've also started cleaning the other bits:

Shiny old Airfix plastic.

Lovely.

The trouble with this is, when you clean off the flash, you get a different coloured line that looks like flash:

That IS smooth - as good as it gets.

Another trouble with this is that CA won't stick it to sticks.

You have to score your bottom - fnaar!

What colours for him then? 1960s. Test pilot?

Help please…

Edit:

Just had a Google for images of 1960s test pilots.

Black and white it is
