Mig88
Here is my other Eduard 1:144 Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21Bis "Fishbed N" which I built back in 2012. It represents "Blue 223", of the People's Air Force of Mozambique, at Beira AB, Mozambique, in 1988. The kit was built OOB and painted with brush except for the final light coat of matt varnish which was airbrushed. The decals came from a Berna Decals sheet. The rocket pods came from an Attack 1:144 MiG-21 kit. I had arranged the pylons so that they would be carried on the inner ones but the undercarriage fouled the fit of the pods so I put them on the outer ones. It seems this machine was used for attacks on FRELIMO guerilla forces. I did some weathering but it isn't noticeable in the photos! Thanks for looking Miguel 25

BKirwan
Great result and a very colourful Mig. Is the Eduard 1:144 a scaled down version of the 1:48 or 1:72 kit? I suspect that this plane was flown by Frelimo instead of against it. Renamo were the insurgent force fighting against the communist regime. These African bush wars get very confusing with all Monty Pythonesque names.....Peoples Front of Judea versus the Judean People's Front. 😄 Regards Brian 1
Tim R-T-C
Lovely work, they're great little kits aren't they.

The source from where I got this info must have been wrong too. 😆 I hadn't considered that. They are indeed pythonesque! The 1:144 kit was released way before the 1:72 kit but more-or-less at the same time as the 1:48 kit. I wouldn't know if it was "scaled down" but it's an excellent kit. My only criticism is the limited variety of underwing stores as compared to the 1:48 kit which came with a large variety. Thank you very much Brian! 13 hours ago, Tim R-T-C said: Lovely work, they're great little kits aren't they. Thanks Tim. Indeed they are and I still have plenty in my stash. As I mention above, my only criticism is the limited variety of underwing stores. Miguel
