dogsbody
First, the build-up. On the first Lancasters to have bulged bomb doors, they were sometimes fitted with a ventral turret. Said turret also had a fairing between it and the rear end of the bomb doors. Later the turret was removed, but the fairing remained. On later Lancasters, newer bulged door were fitted that started the bulge right at the front of the doors, but didn't have the fairing at the tail end. Now the question: Was it open at the tail end of the later doors? Open to atmosphere? Chris
Jure Miljevic
Hello, Chris Open to atmosphere, as far as I can tell. Take a look at photos in this thread: There are other threads on this topic, as you probably know. Still, not all questions about Lancaster bulged bomb bay doors have been answered yet. That bugs me considerably as there is Tall Boy Lancaster Jane ... in my stash, waiting for me to get a crack on it. Cheers Jure
dogsbody
Thanks, Jure. I looked through my references and online, but it's hard to find a good clear photo. Either the doors are open or that area is in shadow. Chris
Jure Miljevic
Same here, Chris. It is quite frustrating. Cheers Jure
Ray_W
Chris, I do not know if this meets your needs or if you have seen it already, but there is a lot of information - referenced and linked. https://forum.warthunder.com/index.php?/topic/176779-lancaster-fn-64-ventralbelly-turret-for-mk1-38-mk2/ Ray
