Tamiya Nakajima KI-84 Hayate "Frank"

Another one that's been in the stash for many years, hence the RIKO sticker !

Decals were missing from the kit so I have had to use after market ones from the old Super Scale International Japanese Unit insignia set.

Pictures below I hope you like it

Cheers Pat

1/72nd scale Dewotine D510A, RAF Martlesham Down 1937, KP kit. This aircraft was bought as the main interest lay in its 20 mm cannon. Unfortunately the aircraft and the gun did not arrive together. Quite a nice little build from the box.

F-89J Iowa ANG 1969, just before retirement of this true interceptor, load out 2 dummy rounds of Genie nuclear missile.

Kit: Academy (rebox of Hobbycraft)

Scale: 1/72

AM: none

Paints: Xrtacolor and some Humbrol enamel, all by brush

Weathering: Flory Grime (I have only found one photo that shows these late birds other than pristine, and that one was filthy, so a bit of artistic licence)

Mistakes: all my own

WIP at link below.

Dassault Super Mystere SMB-2 Fonderie Miniature Limited Run 1/48

Well this one has taken a long tome to reach the finish line. Not the easiest of kits and not the best fitting. Some parts are over detailed in the extreme while others are ignored. Most of the PE is for the door hinges with a note that the doors were normally closed on the ground. The doors did not fit the bays and the bays had to be cut away to allow construction of a support inside the fuselage to fit the doors to. All this made it quite a complicated kit with a lot of additianal parts added. I decided to droop the airbrakes just to break up the scheme a bit and I added the tanks for interest. I have only ever seen one of these and that was in the Albert Museum in northern France (Cambrai) in later camouflage so the natural metal is from pictures.

Final scheme is No.88 10-RB EC 2/10 Seine Fighting Squadron BA 110 (Creil) 1962. Decals from Berna but as noted in the build thread were printed quite out of register.

AZmodel kit from their 3-in-1 Joypack

S.B.S model decals

Brush painted with Humbrol enamels

No Eduard mask sets were harmed in building this kit!

First a b/w version, and then...

2021-02-08_11-23-04

...a more colourful edition of the same pic. More shades of greys, that is!

2021-02-08_11-23-41

Starboard side too to prove I have indeed painted both halves!

 My paint shop erks forgot to fill the lower rear wing to fuselage seam. Also visible: the Hasegawa supplied fuselage theater band gap at the bottom - not H:s fault, but the erks again

2021-02-08_11-24-53

But while surrounded by its plastic kin, nobody cares about those little faults and deficiencies in its finish. Thanks Col., Anatol and Enzo for the GB - though there´s plenty of time left :hmmm:. V-P

Belgian Air Force CF-100 Mk 5 Canuck

Kit: Hobbycraft CF-100 All-Weather Fighter (HC1391)

Scale: 1/72

Aftermarket: Modeldecal decals and Iroquois Models seats

Paints: Hataka Red Line and Vallejo Model Air and Vallejo Metal Color

Weathering: Flory Models Wash, Tamiya & MiG weathering products

Not a bad kit at all of this little bit more obscure plane. Quite simple cockpit and wheel details but other than that looks like a nice and detailed kit. Added wing extensions from plasticard, the version in the box is Mk.4 and Belgians used Mk.V with the extended wings. Main camo painted with Hataka Red Line acrylics, my first proper paintjob with Hataka paints.

Scratchbuilt 1/48th Port Victoria Grain Kitten, designed to be small enough to loan him from a transport ship. Although viable as a fighter, reliability issues with the ABC Gnat engine meant it never went into production.

1/48th Scratchbuilt Port Victoria PV8 Eastchurch Kitten. A parallel design to the PV7 ageing designed for small ship protection and again was one of the many promising types that fell victim to the ABC engine issues.

This is my take on Italeri's 1/72 kit of the Spitfire VII. I was advised that the kit nose was short and shallow and so I grafted on the nose from a spare Airfix Spit Mk IX I had. The plane was part of the station flight based at Skeabrae in the Orkneys to provide cover for the fleet anchorage at Scapa Flow, and they decided to use the code letters DU which had originally been used when 312 Squadron were in residence. On February 20th 1944 a detachment from 602 Squadron were manning the flight and Flight Lieutenant Ian Blair was scrambled in this plane to intercept a high flying Bf 109G attempting to take photos. He shot it down, but his plane was damaged by debris and was written off after landing.

DSC04650-crop DSC04652-crop DSC04654-crop

At that time the plane was fitted with the extended wing tips and painted in the High Altitude scheme of Medium Sea Grey over PRU Blue, but the lack of German High Altitude targets resulted in many having the tips removed and being painted in standard Day Fighter camo for normal use.

Cheers

This is my ancient Airfix 1/72 F-86D from the 1970's. It is actually quite a nice kit though the decs were well past their best.

DSC04630-crop DSC04631-crop DSC04634-crop

I have used one of the two schemes Airfix provide and it carries the markings of the 512 FIS, 406 FIW which was I believe based at Manston in the UK in the mid 1950's.

Cheers

This is the former Frog moulding of the 1/72 Lightning F.6 as produced by DFI in Donetsk in the Ukraine. It is a fairly crude kit by modern standards and I have added a resin replacement cockpit tub, IP and seat, and a Master pitot tube, but other than that the only additions are a pair of aerials behind the cockpit. I have done it in the old Modedecal set markings for 56 Squadron.

DSC04640-crop DSC04636-crop DSC04637-crop

I don't imagine it is very accurate but it looks passable to me, but then I am biased😄!

Cheers
