Modeldecals coming in handy yet again.

Indeed Terry, used them on my tug build but misplaced them, glad I found them.

Japanese characters

I understand your disappointment Jon :giggle:. This is where artistic license comes into play but if I was able to source the correct Japanese decals of the correct size... You don't have any in your decal bank do you?

Winches, cargo hatches and railings added to navigation deck. Samson posts with davits temporarily fitted to see what it looks like. Vents, steps and other detail still to be added.

Are they the black trunking running along the deck, did wonder what they were? And thanks for the encouragement.

that is looking so crisp and neat

No weathering will be done on this vessel, crisp and neat all the way...hopefully.

Stuart under the black tread plates you’ll find steam pipes that hook up to all

deck equipment…it’s one of the many details that you’ve included to lift this

model to the next level…

1:1 decorating of new extension prevented much movement but movement has been made.

20220316-120837.jpg

Poop deck fitted out with main & auxiliary steering engine spaces, bitts, capstans and just for @Steve D, more winches. As usual more details to add; vents, mast, loading davits, ladders, etc.

Over-poop deck fitted to see how it looks .

You can never have enough winches…

Yes agree and judging by how many she has on deck it would have been very busy at loading and off-loading times.  👍

This is a very interesting model, just discovered it while looking for something else. I just noticed that some photographs of your model are not available online, gives an error 503, can there something be done on this error, so that the pictures show again !

I've been through the thread and see no problems. A 503 error happens all the time, just refresh your page.

Hoping to restart this 'slow' build after my GB HMS Rodney build.

Hello Stuart,

I am following your thread about the SS Fushimi Maru with great interest.

I started a few weeks back a scale 1:200 model of MS HIKAWA MARU. I found great photographs of the builders model of  Hikawa Maru online  and in the Wisconsin Maritime Museum, USA.

I have a question, in your thread you show some pictures of the builders model of Fushimi Maru, my question is, are there more pictures of this builders model available, or do you have more of this model.

By the way your model so far looks very clean build, awesome !!

Greetings

Glad you are finding thread interesting and useful. I obtained the photos from the museum, the appropriate manager asked a member of his staff to help me out. I do have more but I'm on holiday at the moment, will pm you when I'm back.

Hi Stewart, again, thanks for the model pictures you sent me. I am having difficulties with the stern part of Hikawa Maru, started already three anew with the stern, today I start for the fourth time, after changing a lot on the frames of the stern part. Pity I cannot place pictures here easy.

Oh wow. Just looked at this again after a long absence and it’s made me realise that I have to get back to  the Xantho nightmare sooner or later.

Turns out that full-hull  is not my thing and I’m just busting to get back to something waterline like this one! 👍

I'm no expert but I know that most people have trouble with the sterns, including me but I made less work for myself by going waterline. As for photo hosting, I use Postimage which is free. I have  had little problems since starting on BM.

Glad you've popped by Steve, hopefully restart this in a week or so and yes, Xantho needs to get going and waterline definitely makes things simpler.
