perdu
Amateur efforts not Lovely finished job Alistair. I'm rather hoping you will give us a Shack next Ali, since I once stayed for a week in 8 sqn's hangar at Kinloss whilst the runway was being resurfaced 1980ish. MOD gave us the hangar whilst we were on a scheme in the West of the country. Made a fascinating home from home living where the Shacks usually did. Seeing this 110 makes me sure the mighty flying rivet mountain would be very well served from your attentions. 👍

I was out on her for a 9 hour flight during my Cadet days. Watch this space for another WIP as I rather enjoyed this one. Cheers, Alistair

We noticed that strip along the upper fuselage line; it's almost like some trunking for a thin wire of some sort and has obviously been fitted before painting of the camouflage and national marking. It isn't present on the other side and you can't see any obvious fixing points on the inside of the metal skin. Has any Bf-110 obsessive (sorry, expert!) any ideas?
Mattlow
Not 100%, but some 110s had a cable which went from the cockpit to the extended rear fuselage which contained a life raft/dinghy.. Allowed the ditched crew to recover dinghy and bring it back to them. I think this would be the long range '110D'. Matt
iainpeden
@Mattlow - that makes sense, thanks. Where would the life raft have been stowed?
Mattlow
Hi Iain I believe that certain Bf 110Ds had a longer extension to the fuselage extending behind the horizontal stabs. From the side, the end of the fuselage is normally not seen, in the D and some Es, you can see the extended rear. I couldn't actually track down a decent photo.
