Stéphane Posted October 26, 2020 Share Posted October 26, 2020 Hello gentlmen, Here's my last complete model, a P-38J 15 LO, from 1st Lt Clark Livingston, 392nd FS, 367th FG, seen at Juvincourt, France Dec. 1944. The Hasegawa kit is a bit of a challenge and has been fighting all the way. Paints used are AK extrem metal over a Gunze lacquer gloss black base, other shades from the Gunze acryl range. It must have taken a lot of work to so accurately replicate the "hastily hand-applied" invasion stripes. Stéphane Posted October 27, 2020 Author Share Posted October 27, 2020 Hello all, Again, thanks for your kind words. @Jackson Duvalier the horn balance was knocked during the photo session. As the kit is a big tail seater, I use the rear support thingy provided in the kit and had to move it with every picture, hence the horn balance being knocked. It,s now back in place. A gear door and the pitot also got knocked during the session 😆. For the NMF finish, kudos goes to the AK extrem metal paints, they are very effective, and you can achieve interesting effects varying the base coat color, playing with transparency and texture. The main base was achieved with Gunze acryl lacquer gloss black and it proves to be a serious enhancer for metal effects. For the invasion stripes effect, it was painted in a "regular " fashion with masking tape, then demarcations were touched spraying angular from a teared paper mask, the irregularities of the tearing providing the effect.
