Hi Dan,

As always, you dazzle us with remarkable work all around.  This week's standout to me is the u-joint.  You'd think these would be simple enough to make, two opposing "U" shapes, but they're certainly not.  Yours seems to be among the closest I've seen in terms of getting the bi-axial connection in scale!  which by all appearances do, or certainly could, work!  I remember the splined yoke you built on the Talbot and it looks like with a shaft/propeller tube, you could plug this in a have a perfectly functional driveline/shaft!  Looking forward to the next update

Cheers

Nick

Well, today exhaust. A real "snake nest", a real challenge...

First, "four in one", two of course.

And now, it's time to take my homemade CNC machine, a cheap

Chinese vice with some improvement:

Note the sand filled pipe (annealed copper) with its two soldered caps...

A neat device Dan...can you share some details of how you modified that vice please?

Better than an explanation I hope...

But be careful, it's patented!*

I'm not sure if Zahnradfabrik Friedrichshafen is particularly Anglo Saxon ;) but that's some impressive modelling.

As promised, fiberglass operations...

Silicon mould preparation:

First layer for small details, then filling:

Blue is the non stick product.

Of course this step is anxiety inducing...

But all is OK!

Then, the first molded piece, the central section:

Putty, sanding, then putty and sanding.....

Wouaa, what a pleasure to follow your work, to discover your tricks...I watch with great attention every time I see you working with the metal lathe.
Everything is perfectly done.
I really like the colour of your exhaust manifolds, can you tell me what colour you use, thank you.

Note: in another subject you were talking about a jeweller's saw, I've had one for a few days, I can tell you that it's a pity I didn't have it before 🤣

Well, let's go inside...

The GT 40's dashboard is really a pure beauty for a race car.

The result, not perfect, as usual, but not so far of the reality after some hours(!):

Switches... A lot of!

Air conditioning? No, just fresh air...

And in front of the dashboard, a steering wheel maybe?

It's beautiful.
I can't wait to finish my car so I can attack something else and in a different way.
I won't be able to do what you do, I think you have an extraordinary experience and a lot of life experience...but all your work is helping me to progress. Thank you for all your work.
