Spitfire Mk.I / Eduard / 1:48

Recommended Posts

That's a beautiful Spitfire Mk I.

Especially, I admire your exhaust pipes that really look like burnt metal!

I think that you may have misunderstood the radio aerial arrangement, though. The HF radio aerial went from the anchor point on the rudder, not to the top of the radio mast, but to the triangular prong on the  mast and from there (via an insulator) down into the fuselage:

Also, you have been very ambitious and rigged the IFF aerial wires, but they were not present while the Spit was equipped with the HF radio aerial, as explained in the 'gospel of Spitfire masts and aerials': http://spitfiresite.com/2010/04/spitfire-masts-and-aerials.html

Notwithstanding these slightly nerdy points, a wonderful Spitfire model!

Kind regards,

Joachim

Very nice indeed,...... but the wing leading edges on the real thing had a wavy pattern of Sky along them,..... and Eduard got the code letters wrong too,...... they are slightly too thin and small.

My model is not as well built and painted as yours,..... but here it is,.... just to show the pics of the real thing,.. the view of the right side of the cockpit may be a different aircraft;

Another lovely build Mathy. How did you find the decals? I’ve heard mixed reports

Bruce

You will find in the Box the new digital printed decals by Eduard. The quality is not so good as they usual used Cartograf ones, but for me they are OK. You do not see the digital print structure and they are good to handle.

That's awesome, WOW. What colour do you use to get the washed out grey behind the smoke on the exhaust? Do you spray a little of that grey then the smoke on top? Roughly how do you achieve this effect ? I would love to try it on my MkV I'll be trying soon, have only really used Tamiya 'smoke' on mine so far.
