Truro Model Builder
The usefulness of flight tracking websites are many. For one, you don't have to hang around outside the hospital for periods of time in the hope that something interesting may turn up. The Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske has two landing pads. The smaller one is outside the front entrance of the Emergency Department, and used by the HEMS AW169 in very urgent situations or if there is not a land ambulance available to transfer the patient from the main, larger pad which is at the rear of the hospital. This pad is used by the SAR S-92, and is big enough to take Chinooks and MH-53s, which have both used it in the past, On one occasion, many years past, there were two Sea Kings -one RAF and one RN- using it simultaneously. To illustrate the current play of HEMS and SAR in the county, therefore, firstly the Bristow Helicopters S-92 G-MCGZ, seen on the main pad in January: G-MCGZ Sikorsky S-92A by Martin Schofield, on Flickr And the HEMS AW169 G-CRWL, which started operations in April with Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust. Named Duchess of Cornwall, it was photographed earlier this month while operating from the small pad outside the ED: G-CRWL Leonardo AW169 by Martin Schofield, on Flickr G-CRWL Leonardo AW169 by Martin Schofield, on Flickr And, as a bonus, AW169 G-PICU, operated by the Children's Air Ambulance, was seen at Newquay Airport on a visit in September.
