JWM
In relation to yesterday's a Tallboy bomb exploded in semi-controlled way in Świnoujście in Poland I have a question - which RAF squadron was used in the Tallboy attack on Lutzow in Świnoujście in 1945? Is there more data about this episode, in which this heavy cruiser was sunk? I found that it was famous Squadron 617 and that it was in April 1945, but maybe it is too few to build the model... https://www.thefirstnews.com/article/remains-of-wwii-german-warship-sunk-by-rafs-dambusters-raised-from-szczecin-seabed-12697 Regards J-W 1
Seahawk
Raid by 18 Lancasters of 617 Squadron on 16 April 1945, led by Gp Capt J-P Fauquier. 14 with TALLBOYs, 4 with 12 x 1000lb bombs. NG228 (Sq Ldr Powell) shot down by flak. Many near-misses and one possible hit on the stern, possibly by Flt Lt Hill's PB997, observed. Lutzow sank 2 days later as the result of a direct hit suffered. 303sqn
See the first splash it made, about 1 min 5 sec.
Work In Progress
Well, considering it didn't go off I was surprised it was visible in that footage but I guess you're thinking it's the small one at 12 o'clock from the ship? Looks plausible to me.

See the second splash at 1.04 , just right after the first one, a bit right and down from first explosion, about 11 hour from middle of ship - and it is without explosion! So this is THAT BOMB fall! The Lancasters looks like in Gran Slam configuration, without upper and nose turrets. Thank you for sharing J-W Edited October 15, 2020 by JWM
