But it has been postponed.

Yep -If its not giving you joy at the moment its good to park it - I have few projects that have been "rescheduled" :)

(Will love to see it when its finished though!)

That’s the spirit.

Happy days then.

Tell me... Is using my active build as my active paint mule frowned upon in these parts?

It'll get finished at some point. Albeit, I need to level up my filling and sanding skills first!

Can’t see any harm. I don’t think I’ve ever been frowned on in britmodeller circles.

Not sure if that's fire damage or black flory wash!

Looks the same as when I put the dark dirt UMP wash down albeit.... Blacker.

It was an accumulation of incompatible rattle cans that I ended up having to scrape off and sand all the way back.

50218034753_2f2706cd28_c.jpgGray ok

50158432793_b6d3d231bb_c.jpgBlack still ok

50181097817_9ed1cefa38_c.jpgSilver Just sat in top of the black then started to orange peel

Silver again

Ouch. One of my main reasons for avoiding rattlecans is compatability issues. I tend to use Halfords primers (and their satin black) and Tamiya Fine Primer Grey.

I can’t but agree. But I like Montana black and specifically Humbrol aluminium, where I can come to grief is with miscellaneous Dealz/Aldi/Lidl rattlecans

50405408446_640ddbfd13_c.jpgThe Bristol was done with. Montana black rattle can.

That said the Caproni was done with a Lidl rattle can but I was just much more careful the second time.

Admittedly, they do have their uses. I'll likely do my XB70 in Halfords White and Appliance White before adding bits with an airbrush.

I must admit now that ( I think) I’ve gotten the hang of airbrushing I only recourse to rattlecans for silver ( mostly because I still don’t trust acrylic silver) and clear varnish( mostly because it’s handy) so my stock of rattlecans tends to get used for diy and craft projects instead of models. Humbrol aluminium is the only rattle can I can see myself using in the long term.
