Faraway
I was wandering around the internet, as you do, looking for inspiration as to what to build or add to the stash. And I saw this. As far as I can find out only one was built (and that crashed) but the idea looks good, especially I suppose if you're not asked to fly it. Anyway, its looks like an interesting build. Just not sure what era to post under, but as it was make 1945/46, I'll call it WW2. Enough chatter, time to make a start. Jon. 8
Pete in Lincs
That does look interesting. As you say, so long as you didn't have to fly it!
Faraway
Started building this strange aircraft. First thing of note, is the instructions are awful. A couple of mis-numbered decals and any number of mis-numbered parts, they seem to get the number of the part right, but give the wrong sprue. Certainly keeps me on my toes, having said all that, the part to part fit is pretty good. Anyway, on with the build. Jon 'undercarriage' first (its really a long trolley, which got left behind on take off. Followed by the cockpit. Then, the fitting of the wings. I've put a piece of tube over the Pitot Tube, as it's moulded onto the wing instead of being fitted later. And I guarantee I would have broken it off, it's already a bit bent. Rocket cradles under the wings. This the 'ski' well and all of its fittings, painted ready to be assembled in the lowered position. I thought I'd dry fit the jets engines to the rear of the fuselage, just to see what it'll look like. Remind any of you of a certain Star Ship ? 5
Pete in Lincs
It's coming together very nicely. Quite a comprehensive cockpit too.
John_W
Very nice. Lovely crisp detail. Is that an ejection seat in the cockpit?

It’s not bad, I’ve done some that are more detailed. Jon Edited October 14, 2020 by Faraway

Detail is good, don’t think it is an ejection seat. But why not ? It certainly looks like one, but that could be a bit of licence by the model producer. I had no idea about this, my knowledge of these aircraft is very limited. http://www.ejectionsite.com/he162seat.htm Jon
Faraway
One of the colour scheme options is bare wooden panels. And I found these, so what a chap to do ? More build pictures later on today. Also, I'm a bit irritated with myself, there were no seat belts with the kit, so I went ahead and built the cockpit. I've just remembered that I might have some generic Luftwaffe belts in my spares box. I'll have a look and see if it's possible to fit them, although it might be a real fiddle. Jon. Faraway
As this build will portray an aircraft that is yet to be painted, I'm going to give it a coat of aluminium and as I can't do much more until the wood grain decals arrive, next week all being well, that's it for now. So, it should all come together next week. Jon. ps. I didn’t fit the seat belts, as I thought it was not worth the fiddle. J First picture, motors dry fitted an canopy tacked on with pva. Next two, aluminium applied. And finally. Engines fitted, now just waiting for the wood grain decals. Faraway
Well, that's that. Finished. The wood grain decals were SSSSOOOO thin, that I only put them on the wings. Excellent effect but a real nightmare to flatten out, honestly, I've used some thin decals, but these................. I'll give it a spray of satin varnish once everything is dry. 7
TheFlogger
Awesome! I really liked how seems with wood decals and metal paint. If I were you, I would make it a dio;2 USAF Airmen inspecting it and off course a willys jeep
