Loved them all! After wandering around on the cobblestones one fairly hot day, I ordered a beer at a little cafe - when it arrived, it was in a glass so large that I wondered if I'd be able to lift it! Still, with a powerful thirst built up and a nation's reputation to uphold, I managed to deal with that and ordered a second. Lovely stuff! Dave Next time you came in, call on me !! We gonna have a great trip... And not a dry one !! Believe me !! 9 minutes ago, Paul Mason said: Brilliant post and most welcome. Hands across the ocean. On the war memorial in our Cheshire Town is one chap who took off but didn't come back from a Vengeance mission in Burma so look forward to seeing the finished kit!! Hello Paul !! Paul Mason
Difficult really. TW Etchells was KIA but never found so his name is on the memorial for lost aircrew in Singapore. Have searched a great deal for info but can't even come up with a unit for the chap. He was a golfer pre-war and one of the trophies in the local club is played for each year under his name. RIP to him for sure. I hear conflicting reports of the Vengeance, from 'much maligned' to 'a real work horse'. I think it did some sterling service though both with the RAF and the RAAF.

Bell209
Great to see these in progress! Steve's got a nice little collection he works with there and he's a willing and knowledgeable reference source. It's a pity the collection's no longer open to the public. When I was last there many years ago, Harold Thomas still took the Sea Fury (and maybe the Beaufighter and Vengeance as well?) outside for a run occasionally. Too many close, whinging neighbours to do that now. 😪

No I need just paints but with the security, they cannot send any liquid unless there's a kit with it.... We used and abused all these tricks with Pierre @BS103 "Oh, No I just bought paints, the kit is for Pierre...." Sincerely. CC

Not mine, its owned by the Thomas Family under the careful eye of Nicole Thomas (damn good operator, that one) I've been lucky enough to have been working there on and off since the early 1980's. Surprised they haven't hunted me away yet 🤔
Jfgred1
Brave man to tackle all of these at the same time... and not just OOB builds... Just got the OzMods set for the Vengeance. The good news is that it is not "pregnant"... But with regards to the "wasp waist", it is there. Now, the question is whether is right to be there or not? Checking some drawings: You can see that in the profile C, the body sides have a distinctive inwards profile from the top of the wing root upwards. Had a closer look to the OzMods set, and seems to me that the maker tried to capture this inwards shape. The bottom of the molded piece, seems straight from the wing root downwards mostly. And I say mostly, because what I did was to use the eyeball MkI against the lines in the cutting matt and roll the piece to check when the sides of the fuselage piece were parallel to the matt lines and when these started to cant inwards. There was a slight widening towards the nose, even below the wing root, but again, the measuring instrument has been out of calibration for a while... In any case, it would be up to the good will of Steve Long (NAVY870) to see if he could confirm whether this feature of the OzMods is really an issue with the set or not....... Sure it is !! the view from above is clear !! No wasp waist at all. Then, dave Claus gaved me a trick with resi... He used to say that resin has memory... Once it is warmed a bit (I say a bit and I got a bit too far this time) resin will take its original shape... It's a amazing but I used the trick some times and it always worked fine but once... I will saw off these bomb bay doors since Oz Mods give opened ones... I thank you all chaps !! Sincerely CC
