PatW
Built box stock in racing trim, with covered headlights, and tyre decals for a laugh. Well it's Italian so Pirelli tyres, or their originals perhaps! added alloy tube exhaust. 10
johnlambert
It looks good and Pirelli tyres are probably what the real thing had. What scale is it?
PatW
Thanks johnlambert. The kit is 1/24th scale.

kjohan
Being new on this forum, I take the oppurtunity to raise a question on colour related to this model, I have one in my stash to be built. As I understand it, this is a model of Giuseppe Camparis car, 2nd in the 1931 Mille Miglia, that is if one applies the starting numbers provided on the decal sheet In the instructions it says the red is a clear red, perhaps approximately corresponding to Humbrol Clear Red no 19. If one googles as well as looks at You Tube there are a couple of cars, most likely renovated , which are in a rather bright/ clear red. Have not found any colour photos of Campari´s car. It seems that PatW has painted his beautiful model in "that direction", a rather clear red. May I ask Pat: what colour did you use for your model ? Now to a slight bewilderment of mine: I see models in 1:43 of Camparis car, made by Brumm, perhaps also others. Those are a darker red, would say Burgundy, more similar to Humbrol no 20. And the CMC model of Nuvolaris 1930 car is also of the same darker shade. Again googling and looking at YT, there are old Alfas also closer to this darker hue So my 2nd question to PatW and the forum/thread readers: what to go for if one actually wants to replicate Camparis car ? Humbrol no 19, no 20 or a mix ? If mixing, shall I "lean" towards the brighter side (19) or the darker side (20) ? PatW: I do not want to high jack your thread, just thought it would be a convenient connection to raise my questions here, hope it´s ok with you. PatW
That's OK to ask questions kjohan. I polished the red plastic the kit came in. As I didn't paint the car I can't answer the second question. I only saw black and white photo's of the car when researching.

In my opinion, the correct color for this car is the Scuderia Alfa Corse Red. For that, the Tamiya Lacquer Paint ( Ref LP or TS ) " Italian Red " is perfect. It is slightly darker than their " Bright Red " you would use for a Fire Truck for example. Edited May 2, 2021 by PhilX
