If they're still in the wrong place then please post a suitable reference shot

I haven't looked so far but the canopy should open up backwards without knocking it off, I think.

Cheers

Come on Ced, took me longer to work out how to attach this to the post than to find it.

Image 4 on a quick Google search

The canopy sits on rails and slides up, in the process the two little canopy recesses give clearance to the antennae

Nice shot of those flap things in action, you can just see the one in the roundel kind of half way shut. Ahhh locking away all ze info.  Thanks Bill.🙌

OK, as it's you…

I won't be able to sleep unless I move them:

OK?

So a request - if you see something wrong could you please, pretty please, post details of how it should be for me?

I'm obviously pants at finding suitable reference shots.

Thanks all :)

The aerials look in the right place now judging from the excellent photo posted by Bill. The manufacturers name used to be written on them ( forgotten it now ) and when I travelled to Heathrow on the A30, pre M25 I often saw a Landrover with one mounted on the roof!

Thanks John - did the Landrover's canopy clear it? :D

Fancied a bit of painting this morning and, as the masking mojo was low, brush painted the first coat on the Scooter's bottom:

Went on well.

See that arrestor hook?

Black and white bands it has.

Wish I'd painted that before I stuck it on :(

Ced. I've signally failed to support your endeavours here of late and can only plead poverty of time - great to see these slipping closer to their cloak of paint. :thumbsup2:

Right, stripe mask.

25mm, 13 segments:

50582960961_3afd597ba9_z.jpg

… so that's (2 down carry 1) 1.923mm per segment.

I don't have any tape that wide.

Silhouette then:

All I need to do now is summon the courage to wrap it around the hook and then cut off the relevant segments.

And, now I've seen that picture, sand off the flash and repaint the white.

Could you cut the "in between lines" with a scalpel and straight edge whilst still flat, and then wrap around the 'ook?

I'm sure you've already thought of that, so apologies!

Cheers,

Mark

If it can handle those finicky measurements, can I blame reference you for wanting to add yet another gizmotool to the arsenal ? :P

Resisting is pointless, and Ced must be now accustomed to taking blames for other's tool addiction...  (says one of Ced's accolades... )

Thanks Craig and Alistair :)

I do have two - the ones on the left of Alistair's picture - but even they don't have 1.923mm divisions.

Trouble is the Oramask wouldn't behave around the hook - it kept curling off, but Tamiya sheet did the job:

50587114371_d1ffcfe31d_z.jpg

Fiddly.

Once the Aqua Gloss is dry I'll splash some black on.

Nice stripes in the making Ced. 🦓

Thanks Johnny :)

They didn't turn out too badly:

50587748738_6d0ac23c4c_z.jpg

Not perfect, but good enough for the ceiling.

Another coat on the bottom, thinned with the brush dipped in flow improver:

50588495526_d5102927fd_z.jpg

One more and I think it'll be done.

I need some masking mojo for the SHAR before I blast on the MSG but I still plan to brush paint the Scooter using the kit paint pots.

Gulp.

The tanks are a bit of a pain - camo on the top - so I need to paint that before the blue underside to avoid lots of fiddly wavy lines.
