kitman
HI- just after a bit of info as to the undercarriage colour of a tamiya spitfire Vb that i am doing at the moment. Its in desert camo and the instructions indicate that the undercarriage should be painted entirely in Azzure blue .Except for the oleo part which is in chrome. The model will depict an spitfire of 601 squadron. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct way to paint that part of the kit?
Mike Starmer
The colour would depend on whether they were painted in UK works or at M.E. MU. If the later then likely the undersurfaces colour as the inside of the u/c doors too.
neilh
Not sure of the squadron , but this picture came up several times when I googles the 601 squadron in the Western Desert. It looks like Azure blue U/legs and covers. https://www.browntroutuk.com/2018/07/25/imperial-war-museum-spitfires-2019-square-wall-calendar/
David Hadland
I got both an Airfix and Italeri Spitfire VB and both of them have Flat Azure Blue as the colour for the underside. However both kits have the modified M.E. air intake, so whether that makes a difference in the underside colour, not sure. If your kit has the modified air intake then the colour is definitely Azure Blue I've also checked my Tropical Hurricane Mk IIc by Revell and that also has the modified air filter as well as the Azure Blue underside colour scheme.
