A question. there are two intakes on the port side of the fuselage, one is at the fwd end under the 4 windows by the door and the other is at the rear not far from the trailing edge of the wing. Did you add these to your model and if so what sizes did you make them? I am looking at some sprue rod of what looks roughly the right size, but if you do know better or more correct that would be valuable information. Jabba
I have added the intakes that I mentioned above. I am not sure if they are the correct size or totally in the right place, but they look the part. They need a little bit of filling, along with some of the windows which I have noticed after spraying with primer.

Jabba
Thanks Al. I have started to apply paint to the tail and the intake areas. I was going to apply the underside colour and got my pot of paint out and gave it a squeeze which very quickly ran out. Doh! So although I have painted part of the undersides with what I had and some from another pot which I do not really like, so I have ordered some more paint which will hopefully arrive next week. I still have work to do on the U/C such as putting the wheels together and painting them so not all is lost.

The E-3 kits includes one of these, I made mine from Evergreen tube, can't recall the diameter. Yours look pretty good to me. Here is a picture of mine when I started, note the Flightpath white metal part supplied in my conversion set, way too big. Jabba
Thanks Ray. I have not added the exhaust holes, but thanks for showing me. The part that Flightpath have in their update set was not included in the DB one, but if it was I be that it would have been of the correct size.

Romeo Alpha Yankee
Nice coverage, that is looking very nice. I see you also started to paint the engines
Jabba
Yes Ray I decided to paint the metal areas on the engines so that I could keep this project moving whilst waiting for the lower paint colour to arrive I have now painted the upper colour, the demarcation line requires a bit of work so that it is neater and the black of the nose.
Jabba
After applying Klear to just the areas where the decals were going to go (I did think of doing the whole airframe), the decals were applied. It should have been a simple task, just a few doors and some engine stripe, but no. There are instructions and handles inside the door outlines and when placed on the model I found that these were too high and interfered with the windows. So once the decal had been wetted I cut out these parts applied the door outline and then these instructions. The engines stripes were a little problematic, mainly due to handling the model due to its size. I am not sure if I have placed the national insignia on the wings in the correct places as I could not find any photos of this, but they look fine to me. The only other thing is that Wolfpak only give you the USAF Ser No and not the civil registration and as I do not have decals to do this I have left it as it is.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Looks great, I would not be fussed about the upper/lower demarcation, every picture I have seen of this aircraft shows it to be a touch ratty
JOCKNEY
Looking really sharp, keep going, we need this one in the gallery Cheers Pat
Jabba
Thanks all for your comments and it should be finished soon. I have done a bit of tarting up with the paint scheme redoing the metal parts of the engines and the demarcation line. I also notice (or I think it is) the rear radome should be white so I have painted this also. The undercarriage is now added and although it does stand on it all the wheels do not touch the ground at once, so a little movement of the U/C will be done. I am not sure about the aerials on the top of the fuselage as I cannot find a good clear picture of these. If anyone can help with any info I will be very grateful. A few more other parts and Kristal Klear for the windows to be added which will be done soon.
Jabba
All finished now, I will hopefully get photos at the weekend, when I get a space big enough to do so. 1

Jabba
Well space was found (our dining table) and so the final photos were taken. I am not sure if the aerials on the top of the fuselage are correct, but they will do for me. I do not know where I am going to put this in the house or if I will ever be able to transport it to any model shows for displaying. Thanks for all the help and encouragement along the way.
PhantomBigStu
Looks fantastic and different from the Boeing grey ones usually see, pleased we’ve seen at least one of the 707/e3 kits finished. Talking of which I’ve just won a conversion for that E-3D I wanted to do for this so I’ll be doing one once my wallet recovers enough to buy the kit. fightersweep
Superb result on your E-8. Quite an achievement to finish this big Heller beastie within the GB time limit. I'd probably still be trying to get the fuselage together at this point. Great job and a great result. Now where to put it?

Alan P
That's some achievement! Hope you find a place for it. Really well done 👏👏👏
Jabba
Thank you all for your comments. My biggest problem at the moment is where to put it as it resides on the floor of my spare room at the mo and have to keep moving it incase SWMBO steps on it accidently. It may have to go into the loft and come out for certain displays, but how to get it there is also a different proposition.
