fishplanebeer
Dear All, Bought this kit via the Freightdog web site paying via Paypal 2 days ago but now when I try to log on to their web site my pc stops me as apparently their web site is not secure/accessible! Has anyone else bought from them recently I wonder or can confirm if they are still trading, or have I just been scammed? Not strictly WW2 I know but sort of connected given their offerings. Regards Colin.

Regards Colin. Hi Colin, it's more than likely that the site's security certificate has expired and needs renewing. It happened here last year I think. Cheers, WV908

That's correct. My browser warned me that the site was not secure, but allows me to bypass the warning. The site is still up, and they are still trading. Freightdog is an eminently reputable vendor with fine products. Edited October 5, 2020 by Space Ranger
John Laidlaw
Yup, just an expired certificate - the certificate expired at 10/3/2020, 4:42:37 AM Central Daylight Time (2/10/2020, 22:42:37 BST, in English) , so the auto-renew didn't happen. No reflection on Freightdog, whom you can trust with no worries.
Mike
I've had to move this to Chat, and would advise that just because you bought a Spitfire, this doesn't make it a WWII discussion. It's about the Freightdog website. Can you be a little more careful where you put your topics please? I checked their homepage, and there appears to have been a lapse in their SSL Certificate as of the 3rd of this month. I pushed through this, and got a warning from my eSet that there was a potential trojan on the page I was accessing, which was stopped dead by it. Colin is a fine upstanding gentleman that is known to the forum for a good 12 years or more, so I would have no worries about being scammed by him. I'd contact him by email first, and check his Vendor area and maybe ask there, or even PM him. meanwhile, I'm going to PM him to tip him off about his site issue, although I'm sure he already knows. Mike
I've contacted Colin to let him know, and he's going to set his website people on it. Contacting people direct rather than wondering about it in cyberspace is definitely the way to go
fishplanebeer
I also mailed Colin to highlight the problem with his site for which he thanked me and he is now resolving the issue. Didn't mean to be alarmist but it did seem odd and in the current climate sadly some suppliers have not been able to continue trading. However all is well and my Mk1b Seafire is now on its way. Regards Colin. 😀
Colin @ Freightdog Models
Sorry for the website woes, initial problem with certificate has been resolved but Mike has kindly pointed out another one that I'm trying to get fixed tomorrow. The website is only 4 years old but the software has apparently reached 'end of life', so a new site is coming in early November. I just hope I can nurse the old one for another month.
