An African or an European one ?? Silver Hurricane !!

Recommended Posts

Hello Dears !!

An Hurricane RFI at least !!

I must say that the new Airfix kit is a real treat !!

I did'nt add too much in it, oxygen hose and some wiring...

There will be no family pics on this thread since my first Hurricane was a mess, and this one is my first Subsaharian kit...

Subsaharian ??? A Hurricane ??

Yes Dear, and interesting for a lot of reasons...

First, she was an admiral barge...

I thank @rob Lyttle for the pics !!

I hope that I made her justice...

Decals are from the Airfix Box and a DKD sheet !!

About that another thank to @tonyot for he has collaborated with DKD and for the advices !!

Thanks to @Troy Smith Our hurricane guru !!

The weathering has been kept minimal since it is an aircraft from Rhodesian Training Air Group, so more time to clean up the planes !!

Then she was the boss's pony....

But as we still are in Africa... The dust is everywhere, Guess how I know it !!

IMG_20201004_153448

Paint is Alclad Aluminium and White Aluminium... I also played with flat and clear varnishes to obtain the differents renderings...

The open gun hatch is just for the fun of it !!

I did'nt have the red patches one the guns throughs.

Pure personnal choice, just aesthetic reasons !!

Well Folks !! It's up to you now !!

Great results, CC.!

It's a good looking plane, really shows without the splodge camo schemes.

These airframes have been around the block..... I can't quite remember the details of how they ended up in Rhodesia. I think they were retired from the Burma theatre.

This looks great ‼️😎

Lovely job CC,..... you have done this particular Hurricane the justice it deserves,..... it is a rather spiffing example!

Cheers

Hey CC, I just wanted to flag @galgos in on this. He's a great source of information on the RATG, and was very helpful when I was doing mine.

His Dad was an instructor there and flew these planes.

I dare say he'll be pleased to see another rendition of the CO's shiny ride!

Great to see a RATG Hurricane modelled (I have a 1/32 one planned), she looks gorgeous in the silver livery, though in truth it was a quick re-spray over the previous camo. Lovely build CC, many congratulations!

Thank you Galgos !

Can't wait to see your 1/32 one.

I stayed restrained on the weathering as it is shown on the pics available.

But quick respray over previous camo is the kind of info that can lead me into another project...

Hum, I'm helpless...

Lovely looking Hurricane.

Just goes to prove the Hurricane looks good whatever colour it is painted

Well Done!!!

😍😍🤩😍😍

Thanks Brigbeale !

Sure the Hurricane is looking good !!

In fact, I tend to prefer the Hurricane, too oftenly put aside for her majesty the Spitfire...

Hooops, I'll raise a hell once again...

I don't know yet if the next Hurricane will be a rag winged bipale one or the Malta rectified one ???

But there are some Hurries down the pipe !!

I thank you all Gents !!

What a great modeller club !!

The Britmodeller beehive is really the best place ever !!

Sincerely.

Hi. I flew in "BE505" from Biggin Hill which is the only two-seat Hurricane flying.

There are some pictures here, if you're interested.

Beautiful work, and a most striking scheme for the Hurricane. I, too, have a "thing" for that aircraft; the Hurricane was in fact my first aircraft obsession at age 9, LOL

Did they call that color "Middling Speed Silver" when applied to the 'cane...LOL...?

I'm not quite sure but this one is also painted in high "speed" silver...
