Dean Whiston
This will be my 2nd entry which will be completed while “waiting for stuff to dry” on build one the Vivastella 143 Groupe mitrailleuses Hotchkiss (1977)
TonyOD
Great subject. They look pretty chilled to say they're raining death on the enemy. Maybe they're just doing target practice.
JeroenS
Hi Dean, always nice to see some figures, welcome with your second entry and good luck!
Dean Whiston
Made a start on Figure number 1 today whilst the Vivastella is curing fair amount of mold lines and injection marks to clean but no more than a much more recent masterbox figure
JOCKNEY
Delighted to see this one joining the GB, not a kit I've seen before either. Good luck with the build. Cheers Pat
Dean Whiston
Well I knew it would happen - despite the Vivastella being ready to work on I’ve remained distracted by these 😳 Needed a fair amount of green stuff putty and filler but close to paint now
JeroenS
These guys look pretty good! Curious to see how they turn out, figure painting is something I keep away from, hat's off to anyone who can pull it off.
Dean Whiston
Ok construction done - undercoated- first base coat for the uniforms on shade wash next then some blending and glazing - not sure if I will paint all 3 together or separately yet; I’ll see how the 1st one goes before I decide
Dean Whiston
Painting proper commenced doing them one at a time starting with the officer
jean
This is a great start. We can see that you know what you are doing, and I am going to tag along, as I can do with a crash course in figurine painting! I nonetheless shiver at people carrying a grenade on their belt! A bit like walking with a hand gun in the waist band... That's maybe why we lost the war? Great show! JR
Dean Whiston
Figure one done (bar the final varnish)

AdrianMF
Wow! Very nice painting! Are you applying separate shades or blending while wet? Regards, Adrian

Dean Whiston
Second figure done bar varnish machine gun next then onto the final figure - oak base due this week so may be done with this one by next weekend
Dean Whiston
Well that’s all the figures done just need to sort the base (oak base still in transit) and this one will be complete back to the Vivastella for a bit ............ unless the recently acquired Arado Ar 96 distracts me 🤪
TonyOD
That's quite remarkable. Not ordinarily my thing but I'm tempted to give something like this a try.
JeroenS
Nice work! You did mention they were small, but they don't look it because of your excellent work and photography. Could you set them next to a paint jar or something so we can appreciate their true size?
Jinxman
Great work, the painting style does the figures justice.

Troy Smith
Very impressive work Dean One comment, which I meant to make when you used to have a pic of you as an avatar, as it showed this well. Eye whites are not really visible unless you are really close to a person, I read in one figure painting guide to not bother, and just use the flesh tone. Your avatar pic was about the same size as the faces above, and in it you could not see your eye white at all. while the blow up of my Paratroop officer shows I need better glasses and light, this is just burnt umber dots as the iris para crop 50621237 by losethekibble, on Flickr your is shows superb fine brush work, but I think it's spoils the face even in a pro well lit shot of a reenactor, the white is basically invisible If it's of any interest, here's the WIP of the para figure https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235072084-132-airfix-paratrooper-officer/ Just I found using an oil wash with lighter fuel as a solvent was a very easy way of adding shadow and outlines to equipment, though my face painting really needs some work! Not meant to knock your painting skills, which are very impressive, just to show my technique FWIW. Hope of interest, and great work on the figures.
