Next up is another Italeri offering, this time a Lancia truck with a 90/53 anti aircraft gun mounted on it. The Italians, like others in the Western Desert needed to get more mobility for their artillery and this was one of the options. The gun was used as an effective anti tank weapon as well as AA. The model is one of Italeri's fast assembly kits so it should go together relatively quickly but it does have a fair number of wheels to paint as well as a crew.

There are three sprues, each of different plastic, the truck is typical Italeri hard and well moulded plastic, the gun somewhat softer and a little flexible, wholeness the crew are on a softer and quite bendy plastic which experience shows will sand OK but won't accept solvent type glue and without some protection paint will rub off easily.

The gun and crew, or servants as Italeri term them, are familiar a single they're the same as those, without the gun base, as those from the Cannone I've been building. Straightforward instructions and transfers for two liveries, one sand, one green.

I just added this one to the stash this week too. Tell me you've got the AB.41 lined up next and I can stand down and just enjoy your builds :D

I treated myself to a trip to Hannants at Colindale on Saturday. And guess what winked at me from the shelves? Yes, an Autoblinda AB41.

Hi 825

That look a really nice kit.

Look forward to seeing you bring this one to life.

Cheers Pat

Thanks Ozzy and Pat, it's coming along fine. I've done a fair amount on it and will be posting later today. Thanks for the support.

Some paint onto the parts that will be difficult to get to once asssembled. There were some fairly big mould depressions inside the cabin that need/needed filling.

Some more paint on after cleaning up, and the crew tidied up with a coat of Kleer on for painting over.

The chassis assembled

and the cabin assembled and fitted and fitted along with the cannon base mount. There's a bit of paint on but a second coat will be required.

I've got this truck in my stash, too, but I was thinking of converting it to a regular transport truck, to show with my Italeri SM.82, if I ever build it.

Should not be too challenging Chris, depending on how much detailing you want to do. The jacks are push fit onto the top of the chassis so it would be possible to build the Italian equivalent of a general service body and mount it straight onto the chassis omitting the jacks and gun base. Perhaps start it and that'll stimulate starting the SM82.

I did buy an aftermarket truck bed for this kit, but it's so thick, it looks like it's a scale foot thick. If ever built, I'll use it for measurements to make something thinner.

Now with wheels on.

I highlighted the radiator with lightly rubbing it with a pencil.

All that's needed now is some tidying up and the transfers added. There should be a plate for both the front and rear number plates so I'll have to put them together from some plastic strip.
